Great rustic lodge. We found it very clean and comfortable. It was charming and the staff were lovely. We had no issues with the food or drinks. There were a few outlets in the main lodge to charge. They also had power strips to allow for additional charging. We felt safe leaving our electronics here. The Village walk was amazing....

I first stayed here in August 2005, a year after it had opened, and ten years later, it is even more comfortable yet still magical. The best thing is they use locals only and some staff were there from the start in 2004. The Owner is a gentleman and we were privileged to meet him. My favourite lodge to track...

See the previous review for all the detail. Here's my perspective. We stayed 4 nights in Rwanda to see the gorillas. We spent the first two nights in one of the lodges near the national park centre. It was fine and convenient for the early morning start. Perfectly good and a nice stay. But we wanted something different for our...

After two weeks safari in both kenya and tanzania we flew to kigali, rwanda on our way to track the silverback gorilla's. What a surprise start of the trip: kigali airport was modern, efficient and a relief after border security in the other counties. A very tidy and clean city, the trip from kigali to our lodge in tge virunga...

Stayed here for two nights to be near Parc National des Volcans Gorillas. Views from seemingly private lodges are stunning though full lake view far more special than opposite partial aspect (our party had two lodges). Rooms are large, comfortable and clean with good toiletries and fluffy towels. Sadly the safe in our room was broken and although looked at...

We stayed at Virunga lodge For 3 wonderful nights. The accommodation was very comfortable with spacious rooms & a wonderful view just outside. The main building had a wonderful inviting atmosphere with open fire place, lots of seating & the bar, a great way to relax after our gorilla treks. The food at breakfast ,lunch & dinner was superb &...

As a diplomat for two years in Rwanda, I had the opportunity to visit all of the lodges in northwestern Rwanda. Virunga Lodge is certainly the best of the best when it comes to lodges near the Volcanoes National Park, the home to Rwanda's famous mountain gorillas. From the warmth and pleasant conversation with Praveen -- the lodge's owner --...

While it is true there are other lodges nearer the national park, none of these other lodges have the view Virunga lodge has. I spent 5 nights at the lodge and found the service to be excellent. The lodge now has outlets in your room. You can now charge your phone, tablet, camera, etc. WiFi is available is in the...

Fantastic views of the mountains and the lakes. However several faults with the room, and badly trained staff. The basic problem with this place is poor management, probably because they find it too easy to get guest to come because of the views. It is also time that the lodge gets adequate wifi and mains electricity.

My husband and I stayed here in June 2015. Volcanoes Safaris looked after us from the moment we landed at Kigali Airport. It was approx. a three hour drive from Kigali to the lodge, but I loved the drive through the rural landscape. We stayed in one of the two new bandas, it was stunning and totally private. We had...
