Whilst in Kigali took the opportunity to visit this oasis in the hills. The calm atmosphere allows everyone to recharge their batteries. The views from each private room at any time of the day are splendid and at many times breathtaking. The opening of the Map room will offer many a chance to sample a special part of Rwanda.

I was expecting a lot from this place based upon the pictures and reviews. I wasn't disappointed. In fact, it out did itself. The living quarters in the lodge were outstanding. The views from each lodge were spectacular. The staff was great. The meals were delicious. A great place to stay before a gorilla trek.

Rwanda is the place to see gorillas and this lodge is a very special place. Incredible views of the volcanoes and the crater twin lakes below. One of the first lodges to start the tourism in Rwanda after the genocide -- the tourism really protects these creatures and their habitat which justifies the cost. This lodge is part of a...

We stayed two nights at Virunga Lodge while doing the treks to see the mountain gorillas. The views, sunrises and sunsets were spectacular. The night skies were amazing and filled with stars. Rooms were fabulous and the food was excellent! We enjoyed massages and were so well taken care of by the wonderful staff. Highly recommend this hotel. Our only...

We traveled to Rwanda with the sole intention of going in search for the gorillas. I can only say that its been the best experience of my life. Anyway, we knew that the Virunga Lodge was going to be our base camp but we really dind´t know what to expect. I usually do my research before going out search of...

Our stay at virunga lodge was fantastic. The food was brilliant and we were fortunate enough to spend a night on the sunset and sunrise side. The massage was honestly the best I've had both Jane and Florent were incredible- just what we needed after a long trek. The staff were all great in assisting my now fiancé with his...

This is a great place. We were lucky enough to be upgraded from our other ( overbooked) hotel. Gorgeous room and bathroom, arrived after dark so did not get to maximise views but saw at sunrise- gorgeous view of lake. Food was excellent - don't over order for breakfast as you have limited time before trekking; and packed lunch was...

The Virunga Lodge was the perfect base camp for the Volcanoes National Park. It affords incredible views of the lake, volcanoes and villages below. The rooms are beautifully appointed and very comfortable, the food was really good (and a great selection of beer and wine to boot) and the staff was wonderful.

We loved this lodge. It is understated luxury which is just our style. Simple- but still well put together. The people are charming. We loved the food options too- plenty of choices- with options that were not at all heavy. Glad to have some lighter lunches. At dinner we all sat together with the other people from the property and...

Trekking with the Gorillas was on my bucket list! The travel agent suggested this property. It was nice. The view could not be beat and the service was excellent. It was about a 45 min drive from where you meet to trek with the gorillas.
