Loved the owner so kind so welcoming and did anything possible to assist us !! Recommended ! It is an oasis in mopti! Mali now has very limited tourists but if you choose to be one of those crazy ones ( like we did) then this is a great recommendation! Food was also very very good !
We stayed at Hotel Doux Reves in January, 2014. The hotel was welcoming. We didn't fancy the first room we were shown and then were offered a much better first floor room. The room was nice and clean with a good bathroom. The interior garden is really lovely, we had dinner there both nights. Monique the owner runs a restaurant across the road which was set up to provide work for mothers without partners. An excellent, practical way of providing help and support to an often forgotten group. This restaurant supplies the hotel and we had excellent dinners. Breakfast, the usual Malian 'continental style' were very nice. We had a long conversation with Monique one night which gave us a real insight into how ordinary people are suffering in Mali as a result of the recent turmoil and its effect on tourism and thus the income of a lot of ordinary Malian people. This was an interesting, informative and sobering discussion. We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Doux Reves. It is the kind of hotel we really enjoy. Simple, pleasant, peaceful, near Malian day to day life and with helpful staff. Because we were on a private tour, the distance from the centre of town wasn't a problem. We liked waking up to the sounds of animals from the little 'farmlet' over the road. Very nice place, very helpful and compassionate owner who is doing some very good things to help people. Highly recommended.…
My favorite hotel in Mopti! Friendly staff, Dominique the french owner, is welcoming and interesting to talk to. She can give you information and suggestions. One can enjoy the interior garden. feee wifi, cold drinks and they can order dinner for you if you do not feel like going out (we liked that) Sleeping on the rooftop is also very enjoyable. I have been to this hotel 4 times and I will always return. Dominique also gives jobs to women and she cares for the local people. Highly recommended.
This hotel offers a variety of options depending on your budget. Room with shared bathroom was just ok. What was nice was the atmosphere -the deck/patio areas, including the roof, were very peaceful and away from the tourist harassment. Downside is it’s far from the port/downtown area (10 min taxi ride- but gets expensive. Alternatively take the SOTRAMA to the Stadium and walk from there)
A somewhat central located hotel in Mopti. It's not a bad place to stay, there is a decent restaurant up the street .The rooms were alright ,somewhat clean the staff was friendly. There is an open terrace in which you can enjoy a cold drink at night socializing with fellow travelers. They do have a performance put on by the local staff every Tuesday & Saturday nights in the courtyard of the hotel. The best room I thought was sleeping on the roof top as it is pleasantly cool at night they provide a net & matress just have a sleeping bag.You can access toilet facilitlies whether or not you're staying in a room or rooftop.
