We were given a warm welcome by the proprietor, a British ex-pat who has lived in Malawi for about eight years. The accommodation was very good value for money: we paid 15,000 Kwacha for a double room, bed and breakfast. The room was basic but clean, with en-suite facilities, and had all that we needed. For breakfast we had pancakes,... More

I have stayed and eaten here on many occasions. The food is fantastic, Paul cooks a wonderful meal every time. The welcome is warm. The beer is ice cold. The rooms are clean, the mosquito nets are sound. It's easily the best place to stay in Mzuzu, and being slightly out of time it's also a touch cooler in the... More

It's clean, simple place to stay on the way out of Mzuzu, opposite the Nature Sanctuary. The rooms are ensuite and the price includes breakfast all at a very reasonable price. Paul (British) who is the owner is also an excellent cook and the evening meals are excellent with a good choice of menu to suit all tastes. Even if... More

I live in Mzuzu and this has the best food in town. The range is large and it is always cooked to the highest quality. Paul the owner will not let his standards drop and the value for money is terrific. The atmosphere is homely and quiet and you are not disturbed. Perfect!!!

Very well run Lodge to stay at when passing through Mzuzu. The owners are great, the food is the best in town, and the service is quality. Very comfortable and relaxed vibe and the the setting is nice, just a few km's outside town heading towards Nkhata Bay. Rooms are clean and it's well priced. I travel a lot for... More

1. The lodging is not luxurious, but very simple. We troubled somewhat with the internet connection, but it got sorted out in due time. Showers are warm when you figure out how to use them correctly, beds are comfortable, and rooms are clean to Malawian standards. Mosquitonets are impeccable. most importantly, the price is a tiny fraction from the hotels,... More

I've been to Pine Tree 8 times in the last 4 years and can't wait to go back. Yes, the food is great, but Paul & Charity make it a home! By far the best place I've seen in Mzuzu! It's just out of town up on a hill with green garden and pine trees!

I stayed in the Pine Tree lodge for 1 night. I made reservation by phone a couple of days before. When I arrived I could choose between 2 rooms: a room with double bed for MK 6000 (may 2013), using the shared bathroom. Or a room with double bed for MK 10.000, with own bathroom. Chose the first room. Very... More

We stayed just one night; rooms are very basic (could do with a bedside table light!) but very clean and they have ensuite toilet and shower; excellent food, very nice location, beautiful verandah surrounded by trees; Paul the owner is very friendly. Absolutely recommended if you stop in Mzuzu.
