The hotel could be really nice as it is an old hotel stemming from colonial times. However, it’s not so nice inside. The rooms are confortable but there is no wifi in the room. Also there is not always hot water and sometimes the water flow even stops completely. The meals are good though and the location is convenient.
I have not stayed the night but the meals are okay. It is located at a central place from where it is quick to access services; banking, shopping, connecting transport or meetings. Having been renovated from a traditional hotel from back in the era, it has ample space and good layout
One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. They play loud music that can be heard in every room for 6 people by the pool. They do not care about their guests comfort & even argue when you politely complain. The rooms are dirty, sheets are stained (eeewwww) & bins are not emptied between guests visiting. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!!!
it was my first time there but to be true staffs are lazy they are some who argue with the client to be true this is this the worse hotel have been in to things are not working 8reffectively wife is not strong responce of client is poor
i was there with my family for JUST a night on 27th to 28th. the reception being handled by a gentleman (time around 4 or 4.30 pm) was very rude and put down the phone me... NO ONE does this to a guest.... they have limited deluxe rooms.. atleast the 4 rooms that i saw (to choose from) the ACs weren't working in any.... there was no hot water to shower.. no porter to take the bags... the security guards and ourselves were talking our bags.. the interior of the bathroom were bad... unfortunately had paid for the rooms.. if not i would have left... Kisumu Hotel you need a thorough make over.... specially when you have good location... no doubt the breakfast was good and reasonable.... just need to look at better and fresh breads and hot tea.. not in thermos
This was one of the finest hotels in Kisumu in the 70s and early 80s. Current renovations, while making it look a bit modern, don't really work and have eaten away at the charm it had. OK for an overnight stop. Last visit in August 2016 the AC was not working and we had to ask for two fans. Also the flat screen TV was more of a dummy - nothing inside. Service late at night can be rather slow. Food is OK but perhaps overpriced.
The hotel room was clean, spacious and reasonably affordable. The decor is rather dated and we struggled a bit with the shower as it wasn't getting hot. The location was good for proximity to Lwangni, Kiboko Bay, Dunga Beach and such... The parking (we drove) was ample and safe.
Nasty experience. Dirty water in taps, unruly crowds criss-crossing near sleeping quarters. Security risk. Average food. The management was well aware of the issue but did nothing. Nice breakfast though
Just about everything at the Kisumu Hotel is worn out, from the plumbing to the air conditioning and the televisions, from the crockery to the curtains. The staff are a mixture of wonderful and amateurish: now you're served by the former, now by the latter. At least the location is very central.
A spacious hotel in heart of Kisumu CBD. It got a great pool which gives you nice breeze. Unfortunately management needs to up their game. Check in was average taking over twenty minutes where the two persons at reception discussed something in their mother tongue. When I was ready to dip into bath tub I realized I did not have a single bath towel. Calls to housekeeping went unanswered. Had to call reception and get towel after forty minutes. Breakfast is average without much choice. Staff seriously needs motivation to bring life here.
