The pro's. The hotel is nicely situated overlooking Lake Victoria. The rooms and balcony are spacious and well thought out with outlets and lights in the right places. It seems as if most of the rooms have excellent views of the lake. The staff were generally helpful and accommodating. The con's. Overall, the place looks a little tired. A fresh coat of paint would do wonders for the rooms and restaurant. The staff while polite were poor at returning communications. They did not answer the phone or return emails promptly. We had to call several times during business hours to reach anyone. A WhatsApp account would be very helpful. Perhaps the biggest negative was the price and quality of the food. I was told there was a breakfast for 1000 or 2000 ksh. I can't imagine what you would get for 2000. A 2nd cup of instant coffee? A breakfast at Java House for around 1000ksh would be way, way better. Overall the food was fair at best. The only reason to eat there would be the views.

I booked Milimani beach resort because I was meeting a client the next day in Kisumu, Felix the receptionist was overwhelmed with bookings I had to wait a little bit longer to be served. Best part was that I was in the mood to be patient. He finally served me and escorted me to my beach cottage, the place was spacious and luxurious my gosh. The set up with the lake view was amazing, I loved the bathtub, the toiletries were in place and all. Now the food, I ate peppers teak and wedges, savoury. They give you time to sleep and serve you in your cottage on time. I enjoyed my stay, you should too.wow

Service is terrible. Took 30 minutes to get served and another one hour for food to get to the table. When the food arrived it was not worth the wait either. Ordered chicken which was not fully cooked. The general housekeeping is terrible at the restaurant and no soap in the toilets.

We visited Milimani Beach Resort for our annual Mission Group dinner. There were about 40 people in our group including children. We had chosen to have them prepare a buffet style meal because of the size of our group. The food was very good and the fried fish was delicious, though it was no longer hot when served. (Possibly due to not having adequate staff to prepare such a large amount of food quickly?) We thought it was a bit pricey for the meal, though we were served a nice variety of dishes. The meats were a bit disappointing with the beef that we were promised being served as a very thin Beef Bolognese, instead of stewed or fried beef. Over all the food was good, the service was great with the helpful and friendly staff. The place and setting is unique and nice.

Perched on the lake's shoreline Milimani Beach Resort brings the other side of Kisumu. With just four traditionally thatched cottages that comes with comfortable amenities and the sweeping views across the lake this resort is a game changer. The mini restaurant and the main restaurant are all on the shoreline as you enjoy the breeze that soothes your body form the lakeside heat and humidity. If you are a birds lover a quick birding will reward you with some egrets, the Black Kite, the Hammerkop, some terns, the African Pied Wagtail and without missing the Pied Kingfisher as it plunges to catch a fish here and there. This resort would make an excellent day out if you need to escape from the city bustles and just unwind. Unfortunately, when i visited they had no alcohol policy so have this in mind that your favorite Tusker will be missing, whether chilled or room temperature....
