My stay at the homestay was absolutely lovely. I booked it a bit late and arrived in the wee hours of the morning but the owner was kind enough to pick me up and assist me in finding alternative accommodation as it was booked out. The following day I transferred back to the hotel. The room wasn't entirely as shown on the picture but it was nice and clean. What I loved about the hotel was the location, cost and the excellent service. The attendants were prompt, friendly and attentive to my requests. The view of the lake at breakfast or sunset is absolutely stunning and it's located in a safe neighborhood. An area they could improve is that I didn't like the positioning of my room. It was close to the staff's general office and cleaning area. I found part of my night and morning noisy as many of the staff were in the office or laundry was being done. The homestay could consider having these two rooms situated away from the area where guests sleep. Overall there I believe they give great value for money as I generally enjoyed my stay. Service too slow. Not a good experience. Got delayed because of the slow service. Hot showers were not working. Breakfast took forever to prepare. The Attendant could either not understand english or kiswahili or kept forgetting. Not a good place if travelling with children.

Homestay Cottage has two branches. I stayed at Homestay on Kakamega road. Rooms are small but price is ok for that location. I was informed that the Homestay Cottage in town by the Lake has bigger and better rooms, but perhaps will try that next time. The food is decent and affordable. Breakfast is the normal toast, margarine, eggs, sausage- nothing out of the ordinary. Parking is very limited. I did not get an opportunity to use wifi since I had very short stay. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

NOT pet friendly. Not responsive to electrical problems. LOTS of dodgy "short term" visitors throughout the night. Avoid at all costs. No address it is an alley. No where for pets to pee, tried sending to construction site behind the building, climbing through pipes and scaffolding to arrive upon broken glass and concrete. Does not register on Google, staff sends you a WhatsApp pin and you are led to a spot 3-4 kilometres away. Sleep in your car in a safe place and you will be much better off.

Check in staff were pretty quick and efficient. Room was surprisingly clean with fresh towels and soap. Linen was changed on a daily basis. The breakfast was very good with a decent selection . The fish and food is to die for...a must try. Overall great experience our team loved it and will definitely use it again. Keep it up.

I really loved this place. Workers here are very friendly and quick in response ones you request any kind of an assistance. Rooms are nice fitted with cooling fans and TV. WiFi connection here is very strong and gym is also available.

The food at Home Stay Cottages will knock your socks off, my fiance loved it so much we stayed an extra night and day. Great amenities at the friendliest price I've ever seen - the facility is a bit too small though. Staff are very friendly, courteous and responsive to customer concerns.

A very small, simple but clean and very friendly hotel run by two brothers. Equipped with excellent wi-fi, hot water and a restaurant that serves authentic and nice food at a reasonable price. Transport service can also be arranged. We had AirPort pickup and drop-off plus a whole day with a skilled driver. The friendly staff that did their outmost to please us and went out of their way to cater for our dietary needs. A place one would like to return to!
