We had 16 family members coming in for a reunion and birthday party for my sister who lives in Spicewood. We didn't want to spend a lot of money on lodging (Lakeway Inn) so we narrowed it down to the Mountain Star of the Hampton Inn based on location. Are we glad we chose Mountain Star! All the rooms have...

My husband has stayed regularly at The beautiful Mountain Star Lodge for business over a 13 year time period...2 days a week usually. I would venture to guess that he is the guest with the oldest history with frequency of stays. As a corporate vice-president, he is particular about where he stays when away from home. I accompany him for...

Vicky was on duty when we arrived and was very friendly and wanted to be sure we enjoyed our stay. I call a couple of times and went to the office for something we forgot and she always had a smile and made me feel that I was not bothering her or keeping her from her other duties. The manager...

I recently booked this hotel for my family to stay in for my mothers 90th birthday. We were so well received that I booked it again for a family reunion. All the guests were pleased with the accommodations. The staff was so friendly. It felt like home! There are several restaraunts nearby. The hot breakfast is great. The rooms are...

I've stayed at this place each month for the past 2 1/2 years. I like the staff and the breakfast. The view is great. Everything is nearby. I enjoy the natural surroundings. I recommended to anyone who is planing on staying down the street for the same price but doesn't want a "prison-sized" room. -Alex

We have stayed at this hotel several times in the last couple of years for it's convenience to our family. We enjoy the view from the upper level balcony. We would not recommend the complimentary breakfast and now go somewhere else in the morning. The rooms are not the fanciest but we have always found them clean and have never...

A person in my party was stung by a scorpion. Poisoning creature was inside a towel. We reported to the manager. The person in charge did not offer help or even apologize. She told us that we should know that scorpions exist in Texas. Yes they are scorpions in Texas. We know about the existence of scorpions in Texas, but...

Thank you for your comments. I am very sorry that you had a bad experience by finding a scorpion in your room. Of course, this is not something we would consider normal practice however; unfortunately has happened. Again, we apologize. What I have done to assure this not happening again is: I have called our exterminators, Orkin, and asked them...

I stayed w/ this quiet lodge during a stay on business in the west Austin area. The staff was extremely welcoming and took care of every thing and question I seemed to have for them. Free breakfast, WiFi, etc. No extra charges for anything. I have already booked my next trip w/ them. Oh, and private balconies w/ hill country...

Stayed here for a family reunion of sorts. We had several rooms and all basically had the same quality. Stained carpets, towels with shredded edges, and just plain worn out and tired rooms. My room had black crickets and some sort of little bug on the bed's blanket which was kind of gross, not to mention the hairy pillow. Sunlight...

I don't understand how anyone can give this place more than one star. We stayed here for two nights for a wedding down the road. The rooms wouldn't pass for clean in any book. Every day we were finding bugs everywhere. The beds were hard and the sheets were stamped with a rental company name. Talk about classy. We couldn't...
