What an experience. This was our final safari camp (4 in all), but it really put the icing on the cake for us. We were a group of 13 friends from the US. It is located in the Moremi Game Reserve. We arrived in the early afternoon and, therefore, did not need escorts to our tents. Ours was #2, almost...

Two nights here as part of an air safari with 6. Welcome was great. Our guide Chemical was pleasant and knowledgeable about the birdlife in the area. Whilst most wildlife was around, birdlife in particular was plentiful. Accommodation (Glamorous tents) was good, though ours (10) was a bit hot to sit in during the mid afternoon beak between Safaris but...

Camp Xakanxa was by far my favorite lodge of the three we went to. It is nestled up right along the water with gorgeous views. The guides were amazing - very educated and flexible. I myself am a water person, so being able to wake up to the Delta was very special. The food was also delicious! The chef's were...

We spent two nights at the Xakanaxa camp site at XA 2 and 3. It had a fireplace and was directly at the water reef which offered spectacular sunset views. When we arrived at the site, a big male elephant was eating a bush and the patrol car tried to get rid of him. The site had ablution blocks that...

We had an excellent stay here as a part of our honeymoon during mid-September 2014. The camp was very clean, decor lovely and food absolutely delicious. We had some fantastic game drives, although I would say that our guide, Montsho, was perhaps a little fixated in locating leopards which whilst great, did mean that we missed out on viewing some...

WE flew by small single prop plane from Kasane airport to the small airfield on Moremi Game Reserve. The flight in was incredible, over the Okavango Delta, we were low enough to see the herds of elephants. The airstrip was a little bumpy but very serviceable. We were greeted enthusiastically at the airport and then transferred to Xakanaxa Camp where...

I booked an accessible safari through Eyes on Africa who booked through on accessible safari company in Southern Africa, Endeavour Safaris. I had very limited freedom at Camp Xakanaxa. I would not consider this camp accessible. The loading area for the game drive vehicles is all sand which you can’t wheel through. The first wood ramp to the lobby is...

From the enthusiastic welcome, the comfortable beds, the fantastic food, the professional guides and the magnificent scenery and wildlife, this camp was a highlight of our tour through Zimbabwe and Botswana. The management, kitchen and accommodation staff were energetic and helpful and the three guides we had, Water, Ngambe and Moncho were all experienced in bushcraft and 4x4 driving skills...

Eight of us (four couples) spent three delightful days here (Sept 2014) and all give it high marks. The entire staff was so warm and gracious. Our guide, Nghandi was just terrific! He wasn't phased by our constant questions and seemed to have a magical touch at finding the most incredible sights out on our drives! We came back from...

The setting of Xakanaxa was really lovely, and the tents were high end and well appointed. We had great game drives with Water, and even though the place was not teeming with game, we saw wild dogs and a leopard, so that made it very special. The food is varied and good quality, with two large tables for communal dining....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Set in the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve, which is rated as being one of the finest game viewing areas in Africa, Camp Xakanaxa has one of the best locations in Botswana. Accommodation is in twelve tastefully furnished tents with twin or double beds and en-suite facilities with shower, hand basin and w.c. The tents are situated on the edge of the lagoon and from their private viewing deck, with comfortable loungers, one looks onto the reed fringes at the waters edge. The camp, with its eclectic mix of furnishings from all over Africa, has a dining room, lounge/bar area, fire deck and plunge pool all slightly raised on wooden platforms with spectacular views over the lagoon. The reception area boasts a curio shop. At night the camp looks stunning as it is lit by dozens of paraffin lamps and candles. The game drives in this sector of Moremi take one down winding tracks, through Mopane forests and across lush grasslands. The waterways are either forded by vehicles or crossed on rustic log bridges. The camp faces out over the Xakanaxa Lagoon on the Khwai River, where combined boat and mokoro (dug-out canoe) trips explore the sinuous channels and floodplains of the Delta, one of Africa’s greatest natural wonders. Birding in the area is excellent, especially in the spring and summer months when the migrants are breeding. To the north are the world famous heronries, which attract large numbers of breeding storks and herons. ... more   less
