From the moment we arrived at the air strip we were warmly welcomed with genuine smiles, care, and interest. Our guide,OB, spotted a Leopard on the way to Mombo and the “wow” factor didn’t stop the whole entire 3 days we stayed. The camp itself is luxurious with amazing amenities, beautiful common areas, an amazing view view everywhere you look, and the luxury tents are exactly that, luxurious. Everyday you see new wildlife nearby and while we were there we had elephants so close we could have touched them. Every single person who worked there is friendly, accommodating, genuine, enjoyable to talk with, and really made you feel welcome. The food is fabulous and the chef, makes it a point to say hello to you at each meal. I can see why there are repeat visitors to Mombo. I was pinching myself daily thinking our stay was a dream, it wasn’t, it was real and I highly recommend Mombo!…
The rooms are amazingly spacious, the view stunning, the game is plentiful, and the staff is unsurpassed. They cannot do enough for you. Don’t eat before you come, they food is fantastic. An awesome place! Our trip arranged by Safari Guru, and it has been magical. We highly recommend!
Stay of a lifetime. It all starts with the amazing staff — the manages Jess, Karyn, our guide Ant and the rest of the crew. The setting and game on Chief’s Island was bountiful and the accommodations beyond luxurious.
The wildlife, the lodge, the staff, our guide (Moss) were all literally the best we have ever come across on any safari. We stayed at little mombo and loved the intimate, family feel of it. We can only hope to come back soon. Thanks to all the staff who made it such a wonderful experience.
I don't know if we were SO lucky or if Mombo is just truly magical, but we had absolutely incredible game viewing. We were treated to an afternoon of two leopards mating in a baobab tree just 1-2kms from camp. It was the perfect way to end our incredible safari with Wilderness Safaris. Our guide, Olle, was amazing. So knowledgable about the concession, the dynamics between the different animals, and the greater Okavango Delta. The food is amazing. The pizza oven was such a treat! Alfred, the Sommelier, was brilliant. We had so much fun chatting with him and the head chef who came out after every meal. We felt so looked after from start to finish. Thank you to the whole team!! We can't wait to return.
This lodge is just spectacular: * Mpho, Jess and Caryn made sure that our every need/whim was cared for. * Alfred, our 5 star sommelier, gave us carefully thought out wines. I thoroughly enjoyed his recommendations and chatting about the different wines. He arranged a food and wine pairing one night that was interesting, loads of fun and delicious. * Chef for giving us the most delicious meals that we never expected in a remote part of Botswana. Nothing was too much trouble. We had some good laughs. We had to stop ourselves from eating too much! * The rooms are luxurious and well appointed. In our family room, each room could be closed off. We made use of the Olympus camera and binoculars in our room. * OB, our guide and fellow birding enthusiast, was great. Seeing a kill right in front of us and completing our birding target of 155 birds in a week will always be remembered. * The staff happily and willingly cared for us. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you. Mombo certainly deserves its five star Wilderness flagship status.…
Our third camp on a 10 day itinerary, 4 days at Mombo. We took a fantastic scenic helicopter ride from Vumbura Plains to Mombo, with incredible views of the delta. Greeted by one of their veteran guides, Doc, we connected immediately. Doc understood right away that game viewing and photography were our priorities. We left every day before dawn with a packed breakfast, and watched game and the sunrise every day, and the sunset out on the drives every evening. Doc has a nose for game, as if he has buttons he can press on the dashboard and make your favorite animal appear ! Leopards with cubs ? Done. Buffalo with calves facing off predators ? Done. Lions hunting warthog ? Yes, and much much more. The density of game at Mombo immediately adjacent to the camp or almost everywhere we went, is just stunning. Even got to see a Scretary Bird hunting ! We were speechless on many occasions. The restaurant and bar staff were incredible, including an up and coming sommelier, Fana (sp ?). The pizza guy made custom treats from his oven for us at every meal. All of them worked hard to make us welcome and well cared for. The rooms are sumptuous, with plenty of modern amenities to go with elegant Safari chic. Lots of charging points for cameras and tablets. Not as many activities as other camps, but this is more than made up for by the incomparable game viewing. The helicopter delivered covid test was efficiently done, and our certificate was ready and waiting at Maun airport for the long flights home. Overall support and service from Wilderness Safaris Ops staff was impeccable. We intend to return as soon as we can. Mombo is a "must do" for any luxury safari itinerary. Outstanding !…
Great animal viewing, very attentive staff led by Mma Mpho. She had a cake made to celebrate my birthday. Perfect rooms, delicious food, could not think of anything to improve. Saw lions and red lechwe from my room and watched as elephant visitor shook palm nuts from adjacent tree.
A 5 star experience in the wilderness! Great service, food is amazing, the game drives were lots of fun and our guide was informative and gracious. The rooms are spacious and beautiful. Love that they give you an Olympus camera to use during your stay & you leave with the memory card. Only negative is they don’t have lots of activities.
This was our third and final Botswana camp after Jao (also Okavango) and Jack's (Makgadikgadi). Reputed to be the best in Botswana, it competes with Singita in Kruger, where we honeymooned 18 years ago. Game experience, food, service were all outstanding. Top sightings: leopards (many, very close, watched them stalk), lion prides (females with cubs and males), elephants (big herd, usually many out directly in front of the camp, and one that walked right up to our hut), hyena pack, warthogs, giraffe, and birds. Rhino, cheetah, and wild dogs are infrequent sightings here, and we didn't get lucky. The rooms are very spacious and luxurious, though are only fan-cooled. The all-South African wine list includes some of the best (Alheit, Sadie Family, Vin de Constance, Mullineux); I recommend always ordering off the wine menu (all inclusive). Our guide, Moses, was exceptionally friendly. Their free usage of Olympus camera gear is a big plus for any family members who don't bring their own safari-worthy gear. The air-conditioned gym is stocked with a spin bike, recumbent, treadmills, rowing machine, kettlebells and dumbbells. I also ran 7 miles on the boardwalk (0.5 miles from one end to the other). My whole family appreciated the ability to exercise after so many hours stationary. Overall, this is a great camp, and now is a great time to visit after a year without many visitors. Singita 18 years ago topped it in terms of game sightings and food, but not facilities. Recommended.…
