Our first stop on a safari in Botswana. The whole team were amazing - thanks so much for making us feel so welcome. There were lots of animal noises at night which was fun and the drives and room were really comfortable.
This was second lodge on our 10 days trip to Botswana and we loved everything about it. Lodge itself is beautiful! All the common areas are open space and facing water hole filled with hippos. Animals come to have a drink all day long, so you can have your drink and watch baboons, impalas, even elephants come by. Incredible. " Tents" are stunning, incredibly spacious with large dressing/bathroom area, indoor and outdoor shower, deck overlooking water. Food was fantastic, you always had couple of choices of main course and presentation was always beautiful. The best part however were game drives. We had phenomenal tracker Tizzar and every game drive exceeded our expectations. This was my 11 th African safari, but by far the best one and I hope to return. 5 star all the way!
Returned for a second visit and were as impressed as before. Saw some of (exactly) the same animals, some male lions, and new ones like Cheetah. Plenty to see; lots of birds and other beasts. Excellent guides who work hard to find animals and get good pictures. Food was excellent, too.
My husband and I have nothing but positive things to say about Sable Alley. We were in the honeymoon suite which is farthest from the main area. While we did not have views of the lagoon, it was nice and private and we still had plenty of visitors at night and during that the day that we could see at a more distant watering hole. The staff is amazing, they are so friendly and accommodating. We loved having Steeze as a guide. Safari in the Okavango Delta is the REAL deal, you truly feel like you are far away from everything and the game viewing is exceptional. When we were checking in an elephant was munching on some leaves next to where I was dining. It was pretty hot when we went so if you’re sensitive to the heat, be sure to look up the seasons and temperatures!
Covid has given residents a unique opportunity to visit this incredible lodge that is normally fully booked and what an experience it was! The lodge is in a stunning location overlooking a waterhole that attracts a lot of wildlife as well as being home to a number of hippos and lovely bird life. The food was absolutely amazing (thank you Pat and Tim), the guide was excellent and very knowledgeable (Molls) and the senior hosting staff very friendly and helpful (Adi and Linky). We did a short boat trip, makoro trip and a wonderful day trip to the elephant lookout - all must do experiences if you visit and have enough time. The only very minor glitches is that due to solar water heating the hot water was Luke warm in the morning and a bit of maintenance is required here and there, especially the decking around the pool. Nothing serious though. All in all an incredible place, great game viewing, wonderful, helpful staff and amazing food. You may even be lucky enough to have elephants feeding right outside your tent as we did. Highly, highly recommended!!!…
Normally, I only write a review to add something that I think has been overlooked. I am making an exception because I think the readers of the reviews need to understand how absolutely magnificent the entire experience is. Our guide Johnson was excellent. He was able to put is in some amazing spots during a wild dog hunt. The accommodations were very comfortable and it hard to believe that one is in the middle of the bush, given the very high quality of the meals.
Not sure which is more beautiful – the Sable Alley lodge itself or its setting in the Khwai Private Reserve. This lodge is exquisite, made all the more special by the wonderful staff and great service. We had a great guide, Steez – and during our stay had two sightings each of male lions and leopard (the wild dogs eluded us – always a reason to return!). Sable Alley is part of the Natural Selection portfolio of lodges. We have been consistently impressed with their commitment to supporting local conservation initiatives and social upliftment (not to mention the absence of any throwaway plastics) – they really walk the talk. We definitely hope to visit more of the Natural Selection offerings.
Sable Alley is located in the Khwai Private Reserve in Botswana. Meaning only Natural Selection Travel guests have exclusive use of this incredible wildlife viewing area next to Botswana's Moremi Game Reserve. Sable Alley is one of Natural Selection's more luxurious properties in the preserve. There are no fences around camp as it should be. Fencing any animal out defeats the purpose of being in the bush. The setting of the camp is beautiful. The food is top notch with great vegan and vegetarian options as well. Our guide, Amos, was excellent. Very knowledgeable and hard working. He had a knack for being in the right place at the right time. We had excellent wildlife viewing and a wonderful mokoro trip. A bull elephant also decided to join us for dinner.
The staff 's warm welcome and superb service at all times from management to general staff The scenery is breath taking, especially the sunset by the deck. The best getaway i have been to locally so far, would have loved to stay longer than the 2 nights if money wasn't an issue:). We had the best guide to take us around the area. I never thought i could do a mokoro ride, but the skilled pooler made the ride so smooth i even forgot i was in water. An altogether lovely experience, would do it all over again
What a beautiful place in the Khwai. We stayed for 3 nights and could of stayed for more! Upon arrival till we left we felt totally relaxed and well looked after. The team were all super friendly and our guide for the stay was excellent. His knowledge and explanations were superb. The game viewing and tracking was awesome and the highlights of the trip was seeing the pride of lions and then a new female leopard later that evening that had moved into the area. We would definitely like to come back or to visit one of their other camps in the area.
