The staff was exceptionally attentive. The accommodations were wonderful, the food was excellent. The Bush guide made the game drives unforgettable. There was something so special about this place and the people there that words cannot adequately describe it.
We had an amazing time at Khwai Leadwood- it’s breath- taking! The camp has beautiful facilities, ever detail has been considered. The food and drink is incredible! Once leaving the camp, the game drive is teeming with life! We saw everything we could, thanks to our fabulous guide, Sinka!! It truly was the trip of a lifetime and we’d love to repeat it! If you have the opportunity to go, do so!
The accommodation is provided by spacious, well designed tents with an internal shower and an outside shower. The camp is a few kilometres from Moremi Game reserve and the game drives can also operate in an adjoining community Conservancy. For me, the red lechwe (rather than big cats) were the highlights because I've not seen these antelopes in any other 'safari country'. Good reedbuck sightings also, and good birds. Our driver-guide Sinka was an all-round star: superb driving in difficult, wet conditions while spotting game at the same time.
Good food, attentive staff. The game drives were wonderful and the wildlife was great. The guides and trackers know their business and give guests the best possible experience. I would definitely return.
This was the third of four camps we stayed at earlier this month (May 2021) run by African Bush Camps. It was spectacular—the experience, the people, the food and drink, the accommodation, all of it. The special touches and personal comforts were notable every day, but the most memorable aspect of this—apart all from the wildlife, which was at the center of everything for two weeks—were the interactions with staff, most of whom grew up in villages in the vicinity. The ABC guides especially were great—all of them nature nerds who broadcast their passion in all their encounters and explanations. Sinta, our guide for four days at Khwai, was among the best. His passion was quite contagious. We became amateur birders through this, which was a happy surprise, but tracking and finding the leopard one evening was truly spectacular. Sinta was relentless. I unhesitatingly recommend both the experience and the outfit: African Bush Camps is a different kind of organization than most of the highly commercial ones sprouting up in the region—plenty of fine touches, but also a commitment to the people where they work as well as to protecting the flora and fauna visitors come to see. ABC kept most staff on the payroll through the pandemic by rotating a month on and a month off, for example. And they routinely take local interns and train them for entry-level jobs, do educational outreach to the communities through their foundation, sell crafts made locally to benefit villagers, and much more. They are as much a part of the environment, as they are stewards of it. And this is a great time to go, with so many travelers staying home. We were one of two or three couples here for a couple of nights and alone for two. Staff are vaccinated (as are we), the place was spotless, we didn't worry about anything. It was the most relaxing time we've had in a year.…
Where do I begin. I spent three nights at Khwai tented camp in December and the second I left I wanted to make a U-turn back. I attribute this to the amazing staff at Khwai. A special thanks to Mimi the hostess who was patient, kind and made me feel so comfortable and to William for his bone chilling music rhythm!! The accommodation (the "tents" are apartments without the kitchen- so spacious and luxurious) food and service at camp were 5 star and the wildlife was the cherry on top. I want to sincerely thank ABC and our guide Banda - who was incredible. His tracking skills (imagine tracking a leopard based on the sounds of birds!), wildlife knowledge, star gazing expertise, humor and the fact that he let me ride shotgun for 3 days was the best. He is the best and am convinced he is secretly famous! :) I really hope to return someday and bring all my friends. Please come here, you will not regret it.…
This was our first visit to Africa and we will never forget the amazing time we had. We loved every minute. The staff, led by Mimi the housekeeper, were delightful - caring and courteous, and attended to all our needs... even the ones we didn't know we had. Our guide, DT, was knowledgeable and patient, and an extremely good driver. Our 'tent' was a beautiful room and the facilities were far more luxurious than we had imagined possible. The food was delicious, home cooked and with lots of choice. We also really enjoyed meeting the other guests and the relaxed way in which we quickly felt as if we were part of a big family. Thank you
My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights during our honeymoon to Africa. We went in January/wet season. Even though we went in wet season it rained only at night and our adventures during the day were never effected. Going in the off season was perfect as it was not busy at all. It was just us and another couple. The staff were all very nice, friendly and welcoming. On our first day the staff sang a welcoming song for us and then everyone individually introduced themselves. This was a nice intimate touch to meet everyone face to face. Each day the chef would come out at lunch and inform us of her dinner plans and if we required any dietary changes. Our guide was Sinka. He did an excellent job of showing us the beauty and wonder of the area. He was very knowledgeable about the animals and plants and general area. We saw elephants, hippos, zebra, warthogs, baboon, giraffe, impala, kudu, tsessebe, lechwe, waterbuck, wildebeest, hyenas, crocodiles, jackal, wild dogs and serval. One of the great sightings we saw was a lioness and her 4 cubs. We just turned the corner and they were coming towards us. We also caught a glimpse of a leopard and Sinka did a great job of tracking and trying to get us closer but the leopard didn’t want to be seen and hid in the bush. After lunch there are no game drives which was nice because you can just rest in your tent or at the pool. The dining tent has a nice view by some water. One afternoon we saw 2 elephants and one evening there were hippos in the water. We also did a mokoro ride on one of our afternoons. It was a very peaceful and relaxing canoe ride. You are low in the water and get a different perspective of the birds and plants. Our tent had a great view and the staff was very nice and cut back some of the tree branches so we could see more. Our tent had a king size bed and for outlets there were 2 USB ports and a British outlet all on the desk. There are only 6 tents with a max of 12 guests.…
We spent 3 nights at Khwai tented camp and enjoyed every minute of it. It was without doubt the most luxurious camp we were at in Botsuana. Our guide, Chief, was very kind, knew just about everything we could ever ask, and even found the wild dogs sleeping in the grass during our night tour. Thank you so much, Chief! We miss you! The team do everything to make the stay a rememberable one. The night when we had the traditional meal, they sang and danced - they have such good voices, incredible! Especially Chef William is a master of entertainment and music! Thank you all for making us feel welcome!
Words cannot express how amazing this camp was . We loved it completely . Location is excellent for game rides. Facilities are great and comfortable. Food unbelievable. More importantly staff was incredibly friendly, accommodating and helpful Special kudos to Mimi (hostess), Sinka (guide), Chef and everyone else who made our stay very special..... thank you for my surprise birthday cake ! .....
