1982 documentary told of the one mine in this area that the Spaniards worked in the 1500s discovered large amounts of emeralds. also in the Orinoco river........I think one of the tributaries. locals would sneak out emeralds in their mouth and sell them on the open market. which was forbidden back then

Hello from the Orinoco Delta, Thanks for the information. Did you visit our lodge? If you did we would like to know why did you give us 3 points out of 5? Your opinion and observations are very important to us. Regards, ODL

Stayed here for 2 nights in a riverfront cabin; despite the basic facilities (no hot water, no fan or aircon), this felt comfortable and welcoming. The hammock was great, food was good and the setting, walkways, gardens etc great. Shout out to Alexei who was multitalented - guide, boatman, waiter etc.

We stayed here as part of a small group travelling through Venezuela. This place was certainly one of the most unique places and is a great place to explore the delta from. Rooms were very good as were the staff and food.

I stayed over a month in Orinoco Delta Lodge and i can confirm all the reviews about it. Its the eden garden. The lodge itself, is very big and the great design of cabanas (with mosquito nets as walls) is very pleasant to make you feel in the middle of the jungle, especially at night :) (Volunteer view): Volunteering there...

We came here as part of a small group trip. The welcome we received was excellent and it never failed to impress. Yes the showers are cold water only and the rooms have no A/C but that did not detract from this place. It is after all in the middle of the Orinoco Delta! Service was impeccable and the food...

Takes about an hour by boat to get here from the nearest small town. Once you arrive you are made to feel very welcome. The accommodation is, lets say, rustic, but is very appropriate to the surroundings. The lounge and bar area is very chilled and relaxing with the feeling of being completely cut off from the rest of the...

Our boat journey to the lodge took about an hour and was very exiting as there was lots to see on the way. Our cabin is very nice and roomy with two double beds under mosquito nets a surprising bathroom and most of the building hanging over the Orinoco on stilts with just mosquito mesh for windows. We were the...

Cabins, food and service are excellent. The delta itself is a tropical paradise with lots of animals and the indigenous Warao indians. There are a few must sees in...

I cannot recommend this place highly enough, three of us arrived from previously staying at Waku Lodge in Canaima which was amazing - but this place managed to top that. On arrival we were greeted by the resident friendly dogs, and the even friendlier staff. Nothing was too much trouble during our time here. The lodges are basic but roomy...
