This was one of the sweetest spots I stayed in all of Patagonia. Guillermo and Christina are the most gracious hosts ever (if I ever opened my own B & B I would try to recruit them!). The chef produced amazing dinners (the just-out of the oven focaccia was delicious). For hiking, the location is unbeatable. Wish I could have...

We had booked two nights at El Pilar in November 2011 on recommendation of our daughter and Trip Advisor. The hotel did not disappoint and the staff were absolutely fantastic - I would agree with all that has been said about them. We were warned on arrival that we might want to eat early as there was a large American...

With views of Mount Fitzroy, the folks at El Pilar make you feel at home after a day hiking in Los Glacieres National Park. A warm fire warms the living room and guests share their day. Rooms are spacious and clean, staff is helpful and full of good information especially about hiking, food delicious. Best value in Argentina. It's no...

Some 18km on an unpaved road north of El Chaltén delivers you to this nirvana - though don't overdo the hiking whilst here if you want a pain free experience! We arrived in the dead of night (delayed by Aerolineas Argentinas) so awoke to astonishing view of Fitzroy seemingly in the front garden, nestling amongst the lupins against a flawless,...

We had the most wonderful time at el pilar. Guillermo and Christina are the most wonderful hosts. They told us where to hike, organized our transfers and made us feel at home. Worth going to el huemel private reserve. Fantastic food and beautiful view. A very very special place.

El Pilar is a mountain lodge set at the foot of Mount FitzRoy. The town of El Chalten (a group of small charming homes and hotels huddled together) is about 30 minutes away. El Pilar is set off by itself, small and secluded located at the crux of several hiking trails. The view out the front door is amazing, the...

My husband and I stayed here on our recent trip to El Chalten. It is located 17km out of town, so you either have to get a cab (which you can pick up in town), or or rent a car (which most people do) to get to it. It is worth it! There are a bunch of trails that either...

El Pilar is terrific! While the location is 17 km outside of town, that suited up perfectly. It is very attractive, the views are stunning, our room was spacious, clean and well furnished. Due to dietary restrictions, one of us had limited choices for dinner, but food was tasty and well prepared and plentiful. Christina and her staff were very...

We deliberated for a long time whether to go to El Chalten as were were going to do the TDP in Chile. We decided to go and it was an excelllent idea. Unfortunately this place gets booked up quite quickly. I tried to book in for 3 nights but was only able to go for 2 as they were fully...

My husband and I stayed here in early Dec. 2011 after three nights backpacking and camping in Los Glacieres National Park. It was excellent! The place was charming, clean and comfortable. We had heard only good things about the place and were still surprised with how wonderful the place is. It is a truly picturesque place in a magnificent setting....
