Everyone at Porthmawr had made a tremendous effort to get everything ready for the first wedding of the season. All the staff both front of house and behind the scenes went to great lengths to provide anything we needed to make our daughter’s three day wedding a huge success. Nothing was too much trouble and we were helped and advised...

We held my daughter's wedding here last weekend and what a lovely weekend we had. We took the house for the whole weekend and Friday was spent getting things together for the wedding and then making use of the kitchen a buffet dinner was prepared and delivered for some 25 people. The rooms in the house looked very good but...

We attended a wedding at Porthmawr Country House this weekend and it was a charming place. The staff were all very friendly, including a chef who effortlessly caught a bat that had flown into the venue. The food they served was delicious and the views from the house were very picturesque.

We booked Porthmawr for our daughter's wedding reception, on August Bank Holiday weekend, 2016. Our decision was based on previous experience there, and given its wonderful location in the lovely town of Crickhowell, and its suitability for our requirements in terms of accommodation and catering/function flexibility. We had the use of the whole property for the whole weekend, the bedrooms...

I attended a wedding, arriving on Friday and leaving Sunday. Porthmawr House is such a relaxing and chilled out venue; guests were able to wander around the house and large gardens at their leisure and the backdrop was the beautiful Welsh mountains. Crickhowell town centre is a 5 minute stroll with many pubs, coffee shops and small local stores to...

This is an ideal wedding venue, the backdrop of the house and grounds are excellent for the photos, the food at the wedding breakfast was very good as well but, watch the bar staff, they overcharged numerous people throughout the day!

Porthmawr is a hidden gem in the heart of Crickhowell. We recently held our wedding there for 90 guests and from start to finish Geoff, his daughter Beth and their amazing team were nothing but welcoming, friendly, efficient and brilliant at what they do. They were more than accommodating to all of our needs and were professional at all times...

We just held our wedding at Porthmawr and it was utterly amazing. Andrew and I had the most amazing weekend we couldn't have asked for more from Geoff and the team. Anything and everything we needed they sorted out for us and the food was absolutely phenomenal! All of our guests raved about it, from the canapés to the evening...

This was a celebration for our son's 30 th birthday with a large group of friends and family. All the accommodation was taken for the 27 in the party. The house was amazing with beautiful grounds and the main lounge and dining rooms were very elegant but also comfortable, warm and welcoming. The kitchen was exceptionally well equipped making it...

We have just returned from a fantastic weekend at Porthmawr Country House. We hired the whole house including the adjoining Cottage and Apartments. Geoff was a great host and put on a brilliant formal sit-down meal on the Saturday night with excellent local Welsh lamb. The house felt incredibly warm and welcoming with large well equipped rooms. A perfect weekend...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Porthmawr is a splendid Regency mansion. Tucked away behind 15th century castellated walls the house and grounds are utterly private and peaceful with stunning mountain views, and ample parking. Plush furnishings, antiques and quirky modern artwork sit side by side in its tall-ceilinged rooms. Relax and enjoy a glass of wine on the terrace on a summers eve or infront of the open fire on a cold winter's night. ... more   less
