BE AWARE OF THE HIDDEN AND RIGID TERMS AND CONDITIONS BEFORE BOOKING THIS PLACE. We booked this last minute and yes that means we didn't perhaps pay attention as we should have. - we thought we had booked bed and breakfast with the option for an evening meal. Oh no !!! Evening meal is COMPULSORY. Not only does it cost... More

?? Not true. It is not possible to miss that dinner is compulsory on the MrandMrsSmith website. I also gave you a call to book the time you wanted for dinner each evening and to ascertain whether there were any food dislikes or allergies. You fully understood that dinner was compulsory and you booked 7.30pm for each evening. I kept... More

Spent 2 nights DB&B here and can't recommend it highly enough. Didn't really know what to expect when I booked, and was a bit worried that the menu was set and no choices available. Having been asked to state what we could/couldn't eat and what we liked, it was time to take a chance. And we weren't disappointed. I would... More

As with other reviews we arrived to stay in Oliver room, found everything as beautiful as described, very comfortable bed and found the mirror in bathroom good for makeup but was great to also have a stool to sit on with mirror and elec plugs to dry/style hair!!. If you like to try a different experience, you cannot go wrong by booking into the Drawing Room. Here you will get very good food, good decor and personal service, almost like sharing their home with you. With just 3 rooms and 4 tables for dinner this is not for those who like crowds. But if you like it quieter then... More

The Drawing Room is set within beautiful countryside, plenty of varied walks and wonderful views. The hotel itself is thoughtfully decorated, a real fire in the original fireplace in the welcoming and comfortable lounge. We stayed in the Oliver room; it was comfortable and spotlessly clean. There was an ensuite bathroom with huge roll top bath, and underfloor heating. The... More

What an incredible find! We stayed in the Oliver room for 2 nights Feb 14th - 16th and both of us loved every moment. The service was friendly and respectful, the food and wine was outstanding - after walking around the nearby beautiful Elan Valley coming back to dinner of this standard was exactly what we needed. Quite honestly the... More

We had the Oliver room which is pictured above. Nice room with tasteful furnishings, the bathroom had a double ended roll top bath. All Fired Earth stuff in there. The toiletries are Penhaligon. It was the food the show in the small dining room. Very well presented and extremely good - great choice of wine. The breakfast choices were every... More

Visited at the end of August for a mid week break after reading the reviews on here about how good the food was, The food at both dinner and breakfast was exceptional, We stayed for 2 nights and the only downside for us was that there is no tea and coffee making available in the room

Thank you for your comments. With regards to the tea and coffee in the room you forgot to mention that you took advantage of our complimentary room service for all your tea and coffee needs. In fact we offer a full drinks service because we are a licensed restaurant. Despite that you thought it was OK to bring all your... More

As with another reviewer we were not aware that dining in was a mandatory charge but the food is so good, and the service personal and friendly, that in the event this did not matter. Melanie and Colin were delightful hosts with so much experience, but they do have a defined approach to things. The bedroom was rather small but... More

We drove from London to Builth Wells, assuming the postal code we'd been given would lead us directly into the parking lot of The Drawing Room. That was our first mistake! Our GPS wanted us to stop in the middle of a field, which we knew couldn't be right. We tried to ring the hotel (or rather, the "restaurant with... More

Thanks for your lovely comments about the food and service. We are a restaurant with rooms that opens for dinner only. (not a hotel) We close from 12-4pm to prepare for dinner. We do have an answer-phone. We are not responsible for satellite navigation. The room tariff includes dinner and breakfast for two people. We do not charge an extra... More
