Took our mother to The Cliff for a birthday lunch. Food was delicious and the staff went above and beyond when we mentioned it was my mothers birthday and even brought out a candle in her dessert with ‘Happy Birthday’ written in white chocolate on the slate! It made her day, thank you so much.
I visited the Cliff for a birthday stay over with a friend. The staff were extremely welcoming, and the room & facilities excellent. We had pre booked spa treatments which were both very good. The pool & spa area was very relaxing with heated stone beds and low ambience lighting. It wasn't too busy, and a lovely relaxing atmosphere overall. Food was very good, having eaten lunch, breakfast and an evening meal.. but unfortunately my sirloin steak wasn't a good cut, a little grisly and tough. I was offered a complimentary drink for this, which I appreciated. Overall I will return, a lovely hotel with sea views and great spa facilities.
Stayed at the cliff many times before it was refurbished, what a difference the work they have done is superb, from the minute you enter the staff are so welcoming we ate in the restaurant both evenings the food was amazing especially the saddle of venison, breakfast choice of continental or full English, from breakfast bar, again the staff in the dining room where very friendly, only downside was when we visited the spa I felt there were to many people in there I counted 16 at one point, but this might not bother some people, overhaul well worth the visit for superb views comfortable rooms and excellent food and service, well done keep it up.
I recently stayed at the Cliff Hotel for one night for work on the 17-18th of January. I read mixed reviews upon arriving here but was hopeful for a nice stay. The hotel is located in such a great location, I was very impressed upon arrival. The reception was good and easy to check in. Upon arrival to the room I was shocked at how small it was. I had read reviews that stated the room was small, this was indeed true. My room was box room sized with a double bed. In hindsight i should have selected 2 people when booking and for leisure as I'd hope they would not give this room to 2 people, there is not enough space. However, as I had paid the same price I would expect the same service. With the hotel in such a nice location its a shame that my window view was a dark lit wall, with the room on a hallway and lots of guests constantly walking back and for (pictures to add to review). The room was very claustrophobic due to how small it was and a wall immediately out of the window. You could not even sit on the toilet as there was simply not enough space next to the wall for even a small person to use. The room number is 117 for anyone reading this review to avoid in future. I attended the gym which was quite frankly terrible. Out of date and broken equipment. The room was also tiny and when I visited, three of us in there struggled for space. The spa however was very good, steam room and sauna excellent. I had read reviews that the pool floor needed repair and expected this may had been fixed since the previous review but was still faulty. Food at the restaurant was great and fairly priced. The waiter seemed confused when I arrived for my booked table and took 40 minutes after seating me to come back to take my order although very good customer service. The breakfast the following day was good. All in all enjoyed my stay but as the reviews before me have mentioned, lots of room for improvement for the price. A larger gym with modern equipment would not go a miss for anyone travelling for work. If you are going give guests a box room, I would expect the price to suit. The bed was very uncomfortable and was a shame the rooms did not have a fridge. The restaurant looked understaffed. For someone eating alone, I did not really want to wait almost an hour for my drinks to be taken after a long trip. Also I don't think any couple would be impressed with the room I was given. Its a shame as the hotel is situated in such a nice spot, but could be a lot better.…
Given a voucher for a stay at this hotel , dinner bed and breakfast in a sea view room, the room was small.. powerful shower. Parts of bathroom dusty and dirty.Breakfast-orange juice and water from the machines not cold ( should be 4° or below) had to ask for ice from bar, toast and eggs already done ,not done to order ,rubbery .
I received a voucher for the spa and a treatment for Christmas, which on the day was lovely and relaxing and I would recommend . But upon booking this and trying to book another person to come to the spa with me ,was dysfunctional and lacking any communication. Overall took many emails of incorrect booking times and days, which in the end, I drove down to physically make the booking. The day after I had phone call, questioning me if I’d paid for my time. As my friend paid separately on arrival, as I was in a treatment, even though I had offered to pay for them at the desk on the day booked. I was told I didn’t need to. This was resolved, but if all staff new or existing could sing from the same hymn sheet it would be a better overall experience.
Me and my partner stayed for NYE and it was such an amazing experience. We booked the executive room, at £160 something with breakfast and the spa included. Staff were lovely, rooms were spotless and the bar was so modern and comforting. 10/10
Our son booked us a suite for Xmas however it was more a family room. Looked nothing like the pictures on their website. Slippers in the room had been worn in terms of what he paid the standards were poor so was the service. Very disappointing I would not recommend.
My wife and I stayed for one night between Xmas and new year and booked the dinner bed n breakfast deal,I originally tried to book the spa break but was told there was no availability which was fine, I was told I could have access to the pool which was good enough for us. On arrival at the hotel the first thing you notice is the location and how impressive it is, the views from the hotel are beautiful, the hotel itself seems as though it’s had a refurb in recent years and is clean and modern. The rooms have all amenities expected and the sea view from the room are stunning. We booked our evening meal at 19:15 and I was a little disappointed by the menu, being on the coast in west wales I hoping the hotel would have a local flavour but the menu has a strong Mediterranean influence, so I decided to go with the steak only to be told there were no steaks available so I chose the fish of the day which was cooked nice but on a bed of caponata which seems strange considering you have so many amazing local ingredients that will go perfectly with fish, my wife had the pie of the day which she was told was a chicken pie but it was basically the caponata inside some pastry and with a bit of chicken added, I saw some people ordering the pizza they did look good but again not local so my advice would be if your not a fan of Mediterranean food then look at the menu prior to booking your meal. The breakfast is buffet style and was good plenty of choice and everything cooked as it should be. After breakfast my wife and I decided to relax in the pool, we arrived at the desk of the spa area and were asked if we had booked a time slot as it was full I told them I hadn’t been made aware that I had to book, and that I had tried to book treatment and had a conversation on the phone in regards to the spa and at no point was told I had to book a time slot for the pool and was also not told when checking in, I was then told that it did say on my terms and conditions, now I’m sure it does but I found that response astonishing. It was clear immediately that I was not going to allowed entry to the pool so I said I would speak to the front desk after all it was them which made me aware on the telephone that I could use the pool and it was them that didn’t inform me at point of booking or check in that I had to book a time slot, so I returned to the desk had the conversation with them they then called the manger she was polite and listened to me she then went to the spa to speak to them and returned and told me the pool is full and it did say on my terms and conditions to book, at this point I realised that I was dealing with a group of people who had no understating of customer service so I thanked them and checked out . The cliff hotel has the potential to be an outstanding hotel it’s location is first class unfortunately it’s service isn’t…
12 noon lunch - Treated by our daughter to celebrate our 55 year wedding anniversary on New Year’s Day. The main course is a carvery. Disappointed that the beef was so dry it crumbled before it reached the plate and the pork looked anaemia and in bits. Chewing the beef was difficult and swallowing impossible with the fear of choking. The vegetables looked dry and unwholesome. On reflection it would appear that we were presented with yesterday’s leftovers which had been reheated. If we ever return will make sure we book for later in the day.
