Whoa Donna! (and Mike) - within the confines of a simple looking modern bungalow, you have created one of the most remarkable Bed and Breakfast experiences imaginable. Where to begin - operating theatre cleanliness throughout, beautifully prepared and individualised breakfasts, the provision of everything a traveller may need (spectacle repair kit...., tot of whisky....), powerful modern shower in pristine bathroom,...

Stayed there for 3 nights. What a fantastic B&B. Donna is such a great host. The rooms are totally equipped and better than any other b&b we stayed in while touring Scotland. Breakfast was amazing (kippers with stornaway black pudding, poached egg and a sausage!!). The b&b is set just above Ullapool, so an easy 20 min walk into town....

We stayed at 9 places over 17 nights in the West of Scotland and this was probably the best. Donna was very helpful giving us information on local restaurants. Location was quiet and only a 15 minute walk into Ullapool centre.

We knew from reviews on the internet, that Birchgrove would be a good spot to stay in Ullapool for a few days, and indeed it turned out to be exceptionally enjoyable. From the outset, my wife and I were offered wonderful hospitality, a clean, comfortable room and an amazing choice of fruits, cereals and a cooked breakfast everyday. Donna was...

This really is a lovely place to stay, as a previous reviewer has said it's not only like home from home but even better than home, there is even a very comfortable lounge area for the use of guests. You are made to feel truly welcome as soon as you arrive and nothing is too much trouble. Both Donna and...

I would like to say this was like home from home, but this was better than home. Donna was an excellent hostess and catered for our every need, even the route we should take on out climb up Ullapool Hill. Breakfast was excellent, the best smoked salmon and scrambled eggs yet. The house had everything you would want even a...

6 months after our first visit, I took my girlfriend back for a night for her birthday as she loved it here the first time round. Well we weren't disappointed. On arrival we were welcomed in to their home, shown our room, and got to chat to Donna again. The room was spotless again and this time had 2 smaller...

Before deciding to stay at Birchgrove for our one night stay, I read the reviews of the B & B, and I have to say, none of them are exaggerated. Even prior to our arriving, Donna was very accommodating, and on arrival we were made to feel very welcome. The room might be considered small (but truthfully I’ve stayed in...

I have stayed in many high end hotels over the years, but Birchgrove would show them up. From the warm welcome, to the very clean/comfortable rooms, the bathrobes, the excellent ensuite, and even the small decanter of single malt for that nip before bed. Then you get to breakfast the next morning. More than we could eat and very well...
