Converted row of terraced houses along the sea front with views down Loch Broom to distant mountains. On street parking outside hostel and along the road. Staff efficient, friendly and welcoming. Building is well maintained and decorated. Dorms comfortable. Modern toilets and showers. Guest kitchen well equipped. Several comfy lounge areas. Shops nearby. Pleasant stay. Recommended.

I stayed here for two nights and was really delighted with the facilities, cleanliness, location etc... But it was really the friendliness of the staff that made it feel really welcoming and comfortable. I would recommend it to anyone wanting budget accommodation in Ullapool.

Arrived spur of the moment without a reseravation, and they were very helpful in arranging a bed. Located right on the harbour front. Perfect! The kitchen isn't huge for the number of guests, so would suggest getting in early or later to avoid the bottle neck, but has a big seating area. Showers were hot and clean. No lockers were...

Unable to book into any of my usual spots in the area I reluctantly took the last room at the Youth Hostel. There were three of us in a private room that could have taken five with our own bathroom and shower. I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised. The room was clean although five would have been a...

I have stayed here many times and can never find any fault with the place and have never heard anyone complain either. The Ullapool youth hostel is on the main road and seafront. It takes less than two minutes to get to the ferry terminal from here. There is always a friendly/family feel about the hostel and the staff make...

We stayed here for one night in July before taking the ferry to Stornoway. It was clean, the staff were friendly, but we had to pay £1/hr for wifi! That was outrageous when really wifi should be free everywhere nowadays. The staff did give us a hairdryer though, which somewhat made up for the lack of wifi. I would stay...

I visited with a bunch of uni mates on a geology field trip to North West Scotland in June 2015. It has excellent kitchen and communal areas (although an extra microwave would be useful!). Beds are reasonably comfortable and the toilets are clean and well kept. Only one plug socket per room so bring an extension lead! Beware! Wifi is...

This is the only hostel in ullapool, it will cost you £22 a night but it's fairly decent. Excellent kitchen and communal areas but has a early curfew which is a shame as there are good pubs around town. I'd stay here again.

The hostel and the facilities are really okay, especially the kitchen and dining area. Our twin room was very small and almost not furnished besides a bunk bed. For the relatively high price I would have expected slightly more. To this point I would still recommend the hostel, but there are a few reasons why I would not come here...

This is a very well run hostel with the most amazing location and views. There are not many hostels where you can watch the seals swim and play while you are washing your dishes and eating your meal. Our family room also had a view over Ullapool harbour. There is a very nice little pub just up the road in...

Amenities

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Ullapool Youth Hostel has a spectacular location on the seafront, offering wonderful, ever-changing views over Loch Broom and the Beinn Dearg mountain range. Rooms vary in size and include both private and multi-share, a well-equipped self-catering kitchen, two small lounges and an excellent laundry and drying room. There is also a dining area where you can eat breakfast while watching the fishing boats, birds and seals in the harbour. Wi-Fi during your stay: We do our best to deliver a free Wi-Fi service but apologise that connectivity, particularly in our rural locations, can be intermittent due to the level of our current broadband provision along with high usage when the youth hostel is busy. Please be assured we are endeavouring to improve where we can. We thank you for your patience and understanding. ... more   less
