Detailed Reviews
I’ve visited this hotel before and thought I would stay again when in the area and I really wasnt disappointed. The social distancing measures from when you walk in the main entrance into the lounge area where the tables are well spaced out. There are hand sanitising stations located all over the hotel made me feel very comfortable from the start of the break including the key to the room sanitized before I got it. The staff wear masks but the friendliness and service was fantastic and made me feel welcome. The food didn’t disappoint either and I was able to use the outside area to sit and eat as the weather was hot aswell on one afternoon. Great stay will be back !

Booked via hotel site , on arrival met by friendly welcoming staff , cleanliness was very good & hand sanitisers & visual social distancing reminders available throughout the main areas of heavy traffic points. The room was very comfortable with a king size bed. The owner is very attentive to customer needs. The restaurant / bar has a fabulous view towards Galloway hills & is a relaxing area to enjoy excellent quality & tasting food . Breakfast was also excellent.
It has some lovely grounds which is in the process of developing the facilities. Would definitely stay again .

We booked here for our 3rd night of our motorbike trip through Scotland and I am so glad we found it!
Firstly, after only booking the day before, I recieved a text message from the owner, welcoming us and asking for our rough arrival times & if we would like to have dinner there also. This gave a personal touch that means so much to myself.
Once there, we found a beautiful buliding, in beautiful grounds, with stunning veiws over a valley! We parked under a tree, for some shelter for the bikes and were happy to find that we could see them from our room.
On check in we found we were the only guests staying that night & had the personal treatment our whole stay.
Every where had hand sanitiser stations on the way to our room, which was up a beautiful staircase.
Our room was AMAZING! We had king room which was huge and had a vaulted ceiling, great ensuit and a view over the valley. Also there was the perfect little touch of luxury with the tea/coffe tray- a tunnucks teacake each, and a individual hand sanitiser!
Dinner was the best hotel food I have had in a very long time. I went for the homemade Mamtas curry. It was Shashanks Mothers recipe & it was to die for!! We were sat on winged armchairs, in a stunning wood paneled hall, looking out a sash window over the valley, with open fires at both ends, I felt like royalty!
Next day as we were checking out, it was raining so we had to be extra prepared for out motorbike riding. We werent rushed at all & had plenty of offers to help us.
Told Shashank that we would be back in the winter, in a car & that we will love to stay here again!! He asked that I contact him personally, so he could make sure our stay was even better. That is great service!!
Stay here, you will NOT be sorry!

We have just returned from a most enjoyable stay at Ernespie House Hotel. As you approach the hotel along the tree lined driveway the hotel has the appearance of a typical small country house hotel.
On arrival you realise very quickly that the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. This is no "stuffy" country house hotel. The owner and every member of his staff are friendly and give the impression that they want their guests to enjoy their stay.
Our room ( a King Room) was spotless. It was large with a substantial ensuite shower room and a sitting area.
The hotel's compliance to Covid precautions is excellent with copious hand sanitisers strategically placed throughout the hotel making guests feel safe.
The menu is varied and extensive. The meals are well cooked, flavoursome and nicely presented.
Good choice also on the breakfast menu which again was delicious.
We have had less good meals and smaller rooms in hotels charging considerably more than Ernespie House is currently charging.
I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and would advise giving it a try you certainly will not be disappointed.

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at this charming family run hotel.
Shashank & his team were just brilliant throughout our stay and couldn’t do enough to make us comfortable.
We dined in the hotel 3 out of the 4 nights and throughly enjoyed every single meal and the breakfast was great and freshly cooked to order.
Our bedroom & public areas were spotless and thoughtfully decorated with everything we needed and the team full of helpful local knowledge to help fill your day.
The highlight of our stay was drinking alfresco in the beautifully kept grounds.
If you are looking for an unpretentious but well thought out hotel with good food and excellent service this is the hotel.
We will be back !!

A quiet, relaxing country house hotel with cosy log fires run by a professional hotelier who takes great pride in personal service.
Quality fresh local produce with a diverse menu choice, the meals were simply delicious.
Our room was clean, spacious and well stocked with coffees, teas, biscuits.
Fast WiFi we logged into our Netflix and Amazon prime for a wee bedtime movie each night.
The hotel has lovely dining areas and a menu worth tasting. Steak dinner and "Mothers" home made curry were a big hit with us. Delicious full Scottish breakfasts each morning set you up for a day of exploring, hikes, sandy beaches and shopping.
Remember this hotel is in a "dark sky" area, when the clouds clear the star gazing skies are truly spectacular, step outside the hotel and look up at the universe while breathing the cleanest energising country fresh air.
Looking forward to our next and 3rd stay in this value for money, attentive family run hotel.

One of the most amazing and relaxing meal with friends we had at this lovely hotel on a lazy Saturday afternoon.
We were a lil apprehensive about the standard of cleanliness and hygiene on account of Covid scare while making reservations. But all the apprehensions were put to rest when we reached the hotel. The management had gone out of way to ensure sanitisation, non contact reception, social distancing adhering seating which assured us a great deal.
Wow ! we had a lovely afternoon !! The staff was cool too, smiling and friendly, made us feel welcome !!
Yeah, there was some delay in presentation of food, but that is understandable, it can happen anywhere, the waiter was polite and apologetic and offered a complimentary dessert to make up for that. :)
Will visit again !!

Warmly greeted on arrival and immediately you could see the hotel was lovely and clean with all the appropriate sanitiser and covid guidelines all in place. We were advised on the changes made and what the hotel had to offer. The room was lovely and spacious which was great as we had our bike gear with us. It had all the facilities as described and the room was immaculate. Though the weather was not on our side we settled down for a few drinks in the front room with a fantastic view of the surrounding area. We soon got to know the owners and i have to say you must make time to to talk to them as they have great stories to tell and it was lovely to get to know the people behind the hotel...lovely family. Laura looked after us at dinner and breakfast and could not do enough to make sure we were enjoying our meal and drinks, which leads me on to the food which was fantastic and great value for money. The hotel is suitable for couples and families, huge grounds which due to the awful weather we could not take full advantage of but could see the outside seating areas with social distancing in place. Even on check out we were welcomed to stay and have coffees after until the weather eased before leaving which was a godsend as in most places they are shooing you out of the door as soon as the bill is paid. Please go and support this hotel, you will not be dissapointed and i can assure you your stay will be fantastic.

Located in the middle of stunning countryside, this is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the beauty of Dumfries & Galloway.
Shashank and his team (Grace, Chanel, Francis… Just to mention a few!) makes you feel home away from home. Excellent service from start to finish.
The property has a well-maintained walled garden, perfect for energetic dogs to play safely at any time of the day.
Ernespie’s dining selection is ideal for casual diners and has a good range of Indian dishes. The chicken pakoras are particularly yummy. We tried their Sunday roast and the quality of the beef was great.
As of the breakfast, it is a luxury to enjoy a full Scottish breakfast, among other choices, overlooking at the green fields full of cows.
Overall, our experience has been a 10/10 and we can’t wait to visit again.
