Recommended by a local B&B owner, we spent an evening here. The fish and chips were decent, the beer was cold and the place had a bit of a buzz to it. Beyond that I couldn't say but you could do worse (avoid the local Chinese restaurant).

Warm reception on arrival. Room was basic but ok. Dinner was excellent and great service from friendly staff. Morning breakfast was great too with the same level of service. My only complaint was that I couldn't shower in the morning. Cold water had high pressure but as soon as I turned up the heat the water ran to a trickle.

The hotel was clean and the staff were lovely, helpful and efficient. The room was a good size but the en - suite was very small. The Market Inn has a central location but it is peaceful. We found it to be a good stopping off point on the journey to Stranraer. We did enjoy a lovely evening meal at...

Booked a table for 8 with short notice but could not believe the quality of service and food. A limited menu but there was something for everyone in our party including one veggie who had a Brie starter for a main meal which was very tasty and very filling as they were huge!

We enjoyed our stay here. It is a pleasant hotel in the middle of Castle Douglas with attentive staff. Emma, Megan and Grace looked after us, a group of 7 cyclists, with exceptional care. The rooms were comfortable and we had a good dinner in the restaurant. Breakfast set us up for the next day’s cycle.
