Detailed Reviews
A lovely B&B. The room (we had St. Roche), was clean and comfortable. Everything was so well done. Helen and Michael were great hosts, going above and beyond what you might expect. We stayed when the weather was particularly hot, and Helen brought us a fan and a sheet to use as a cover instead of a duvet, really helping to ensure our comfort. I particularly liked the little jar of proper coffee and the cafetiere in the room, along with a vacuum flask of fresh milk each day rather than sachets of instant coffee and UHT milk.
The quality was also apparent in the food served at breakfast.
We stayed for a week and there is plenty to see and do in the area.
I would definitely recommend Hunters Lodge.

What a great find. We stayed here for three nights with friends. Our rooms were well appointed, airy and welcoming. The towels and linen were excellent quality. The provision of thoughtful extras such as a small thermos of fresh milk for tea and excellent coffee with cafetière were much appreciated. Breakfast was delicious and tailored precisely to our requests. We enjoyed being able to use the cosy guest sitting room and sat there drinking wine on a couple of evenings when Boris’ curfew had tipped us out of local restaurants. Above all Helen was welcoming, friendly, knowledgeable about the area and generous with advice and ideas. I recommend a stay at Hunters Lodge unreservedly. There is plenty to see and do nearby and it is a great place to relax and recharge.

We stayed for five nights in a very spacious room at the back of the house overlooking the garden and were very happy with the standard of décor, cleanliness and comfort.
We especially appreciated the range of Fairtrade tea and coffee sachets, homemade biscuits and fresh milk provided on the hospitality tray.
Breakfast was always a highlight of our day being freshly cooked and excellent quality produce.
All in all we felt very well looked after and would whole heartedly recommend Hunters Lodge

The Hunters Lodge has a serene and beautiful homely feel which enveloped us upon arrival. This was not by some fluke of coincidence but all credit goes to the generous reception by the owner and our host, Helen.
Her meticulous attention to detail comes second to none and her passion and knowledge in the hospitality sector helps to make The Hunters Lodge a perfectly peaceful retreat for any holidaying traveller. A beautiful location to see the early sunrise over the misty green landscapes and even star gaze into the unspoilt night skies.
Travel well.

It exceeded my expectations! From beginning to end the personal touch was very much appreciated and made our stay all the more special.
On arrival we were given a choice of room, we stayed in the Kingsley room, which was modern and spacious .Tea and cake was provided once we settled in which was served in the guest sitting room with a cosy fireplace. Our full English breakfast was delicious, you could taste the quality of the products used. When we returned back in the evenings we found a flask of milk to make tea in our room. I can’t remember the last time I saw a sky full of stars in the UK, it was breath taking there was no light pollution.
Helen was a fantastic host friendly and considerate.

Really lucky to find this accommodation - lounge with sofas to sink in and take in the beautiful views, fireplace, books and games. Spacious dining area and excellent breakfast. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated and really comfortable and clean. Helen welcomed us very warmly and provided a most welcome cup of Tea and cake on arrival, some fresh milk for tea in the room, tips on where to go around the area and the whole atmosphere was very relaxed. She even posted a pair of Jeans to our home later that my daughter had forgotten in the room. Lovely area for walks, woods and coastal villages. Highly recommend it.

We had a lovely two night stay at Hunters Lodge, Helen was an excellent host, very attentive and made us feel very welcome at the beautifully decorated Hunters lodge.
Rooms are large with everything that you will need for your stay with some very nice touches included. Breakfast both mornings we had an excellent selection to choose from made up from local produce. We will definitely be back to Hunters lodge.

We arrived very early at Hunters Lodge. There was very accessible off street parking. We couldn't believe that Helen came out and carried our heavy overnight bag into the house! Although our room wasn't ready, Helen, the proprietor, gave us a warm welcome, and made us a welcome cup of tea, and was more than happy to let us use a room to freshen up before we went to a wedding 2 miles away. Hunters Lodge was far superior than I could tell by the photos. Everything about it shouts quality and comfort, and it was definitely both. The room was spacious, stylish and spotlessly clean. For me personally I like windows open wide, and the sash window meant it was easy to open with a lovely breeze coming in.
There was a nice outlook over the distant hills, and the room was situated at the back of the house, so it was very quiet. The house is situated on a road, which is not noisy at all. Helen explained about the codes to gain entry to the house after the wedding.
We decided to drive to the wedding venue, and on our return found her instructions easy (despite us both being a little worse for wear!)
The next morning we reluctantly got out of the huge comfortable superking bed. The bed linen was fantastic quality, which helps to get a good night's sleep. Once we were ready we made our way downstairs, where Helen greeted us and advised there was fruit, cereals and fruit juice, and then asked us if we wanted a full English breakfast, which we both did. It was all freshly cooked to order, so while we waited, Helen provided us with tea and a few slices of toast to be going on with! We ate a delicious breakfast before getting our belongings together. Helen then offered to drive my husband to the wedding venue to pick up our car, then her partner actually drove my husband there.
Nothing was too much trouble for Helen and her partner. We had a fantastic stay at Hunters Lodge, and we will definitely be returning!

This is a fine period house beautifully furnished with quality decorations and furniture.
It is well placed north of Chichester about 10 mins drive to the centre.
Our room was very comfortable with additional heating if needed.
Helen, the host was very friendly and offered tea and cake on arrival.
Breakfast ordered 24 hours in advance was very good and cooked to order.

This was our first trip to the South Downs area which we absolutely loved.
The icing on the cake was our stay at Hunters Lodge, Lavant. Our lovely hostess Helen gave us a warm welcome with tea and delicious home made cakes in the elegant guest lounge.
The room was very light and comfortable with a nice view over the garden.
Breakfasts were filling and delicious and really set us up for the day.
Helen was very informative about the local area and suggestions as to where to visit, and where to eat in the evening, nothing was too much trouble.
I can fully reccomend staying here if you are in the area.
