Stayed for 2 nights in an excellent double room with views, hotel is in about the best position to visit Staithes given that visitors cars are not allowed in the harbour area in Staithes. Decent pub serving fairly standard but good quality pub grub. Car park. Good breakfast. Recommended and reasonably priced.

To be very honest as we drove up the street towards the captain cook we had our reservations. Having said that have been here 4 days and it's been superb. On our first day we walked around Staithes and planned where we would eat. In reality we have had every meal at the Captain Cook. A la Carte it's not...

Excellent stay! Spontaneous trip to the seaside made perfect with large, clean family room. The girls had a single bed each which makes a change from a sofa bed or Dodgy camp beds which is usual for family rooms. Lovely breakfast set up for us in the bar which is dog friendly (the dining room isn't) The only thing I'd...

My only quibble with the room were the pillows very flat is the best description. Meals at the Captain Cook...

Ate here twice over a week with different friends. The first time there were 4 of us, two had fish and chips which were huge and both declared delicious....much better than any they'd had in Whitby, and very light batter. I had poached chicken & a peppercorn sauce - lots of lovely veg as well. The portions are very generous...

Booked online on same day we were staying, think we surprised staff when we turned up. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Room was freshly decorated and clean. Breakfast was huge and nicely cooked. Wasn't too keen on meat sharing platter for evening meal.
