Detailed Reviews
Our stay at the Wild Garlic rooms was fine and as advertised: there is free parking in the town, the room, which was called Elderflower, was comfortable and spacious. The location is good and all facilites were adequate. However we had some niggles and I thought maybe it was a little overpriced: the walls are thin and you can hear noise from neighbours; the bathroom could have done with an extractor fan; the breakfast, taken in rooms due to Covid, was ok but a little bit meagre; there were some bits on the carpet that hadn't been hoovered; the TV was small, didn't tune in well and at a funny angle; the ironing board could do with a new cover! None of these greatly spoilt our trip and I would stay here again if in the area, but I just thought the price was a little much for what we got. I must also mention that taxis are rarer than hen's teeth in Nailsworth so book well ahead if you need one :)

Firstly, the Tripadvsor listing is confusing. The bistro is no longer there, it is now called Wilder and is across the road in another location. The old bistro is now rental apartments. That said, the rooms above are as listed on TA. We stayed in the Sorrel Room which was of a good standard. Entrance to the upper floor rooms are via the rear of the building. You gain entry via a code that worked well. Location is in the heart of Nailswoth and parking is either in the 3 spaces at the front of the building, or just up the hill if they're full. The building is old so expect creaking floorboards everywhere, walls are thin so you do hear other residents unfortunately, Breakfast items are provided in the rooms and replenished daily, good quality granola, yoghurt, muffins, juice, milk, tea and coffee. Bathroom was small and nowhere to hang two towels is an oversight, just some hooks would suffice. Also, lack of shelf space in the bathroom was frustrating. Bed was very soft so not comfortable for us as we like hard beds, but that's a personal preference. Lovely stainless window was handmade by a local artist. Other windows are roof opening by a velux remote control panel on the wall which worked perfectly. Sitting room area with sofa and TV was spacious enough for two people maximum and comfortable. One tip - if you need a taxi, forget it !! We had dinner booked at a local country hotel but having tried Uber and several local co's could not get one so had to cancel dinner plans. Overall a pleasant stay.

We had a lovely weekend in "The Loft". This is one of two rooms on the top floor, and is only accessed by an exterior staircase - so it is not suitable for disabled residents. The room is comfortable, and there is a large bath in the bathroom. Under COVID regulations breakfast is supplied in the room.

Avoid staying here at all costs.
Read the reviews carefully as the bistro has many good reviews but the rooms have many terrible reviews.
My partner and I chose to stay here for the night, we arrived at Wild Garlic and self checked in the room. I was immediately disappointed, this was certainly not what I saw from the pictures on their website. They advertise the rooms as a boutique B&B when in fact they are quite the opposite. The room was dingy, lacked natural light, could not open windows, bed and sofa looked very worn and a poor finish in general. The breakfast was left in the room - a muffin, yogurt and packet of granola, not the bistro downstairs as made out on the website. We also found hairs on the bed and white stains all over the sofa... we actually laid towels to sit on for the 10 minutes we stayed there for.
We decided to leave and book alternative accommodation. I contacted the owner direct and the booking website also contacted them, we spoke about our reasons for not staying and the most disappointing thing was that they decided not to approve a refund. I can not believe we paid £110 to stand in the room for less than 10 minutes...
Message to owner - stop falsely advertising and be fair...

The room looks lovely on first appearance. We stayed in The Loft and it was really in need of some tlc. The floor in the bathroom is warped, there’s no water pressure in the sink and the sink was coming off the wall so I stopped leaning on it! The shower needs work, in general it’s poor. A bath took half an hour to fill. Not worth the price we paid, but location was fantastic for getting around. Bed was very comfortable which is important, but this room needs significant work, including the bathroom needing a decent renovation job. Also, to hear your cleaner openly being rude and complaining outside sat down isn’t exactly very good for business.

We stayed at the Wild Garlic Rooms to break up a long journey from Manchester to Cornwall.
Check in was extremely easy with just a code required (sent by email) to enter the apartment. Parking wasn`t a problem with a large free car park situated behind the Britannia pub opposite. The apartment was extremely clean and had everything we required for a comfortable stay including a bed guard for our toddler to use.
We didn`t arrive until just after 6pm when we headed over to the Britannia pub opposite and enjoyed a pleasant evening meal. We had a quick walk around Nailsworth and made use of the local Coop to buy some drinks and snacks.
The only negative part of our stay was at 01.30am the couple in the apartment next door had an almighty argument, shouting swearing things (furniture) begin thrown between 01.30am and 03.30am when eventually the door slammed and one of them left.
We were up early the following ay and left tired but of course not the apartment owners fault.

Stayed for 5 nights in Shortwood whilst attending a cookery course locally with my son. The experience did not match the expense of the stay. Kept awake by noise, bathroom in a poor state, things were broken, no attention to providing a warm welcome. Really need to update the facilities and take more care of guests when charging this amount.

This accomodation is definately 5*+ wonderful rooms with continental breakfast and small fridge in the room. I have stayed in Sorrel, Nettle and Elderflower all fabulous. Nothing is too much trouble for the owner and I won't stay anywhere else when I am in the area.

Pros:
The Muffins are to die for! only reason why I have given 2 stars!
Automatic velux windows - fab!
Cons:
1. Uncomfortable springy beds
2. Noise from loud radio and construction (after complaining, next morning they had told the builders to stop.)
3. Very very thin walls - can hear everything from the corridor
3. Odd smell in the room
4. Automatic velux window was programmed to open at 7 am (ruined sleep, changed program)
5. Felty dirty
6. Complete rip off, very very poor value for money (could have stayed in a 4 star hotel with a hot breakfast for the same price, although further from town, would rather have driven.
7. Whilst the room was not dirty, it felt dirty and very dated, I suppose that’s the look they are going for.
Overall huge disappointment on our weekend date.

We had a fantastic stay in The Loft at Wild Garlic after having our wedding breakfast at Wilder.
The room was lovely. So clean & well put together with underfloor heating in the bathroom and a MASSIVE bath.
The continental breakfast was a lovely touch, with muffins, granola & yogurt, juice, cereal & plenty of milk for tea or coffee.
