Treated my mum to a two night stay here, this time in the old part of the hotel. Her room, 29 was a period room, pretty large with four poster bed and tons of atmosphere. Mine, room 30 was cheaper and not so big but again plenty of character and warm and cosy, soft bed and good sleep. Staff were...

I am a regular Old English inns user and fan. However this must be the worse I've stayed in. I was on business and came with a colleague. It didn't do much for my credibility in choosing this place. As soon as I reached the frond door I knew there was a problem. The place is tired and needs re...

Checked in. Hotel freezing. No heating working. Receptionist didn't seem too bothered. Bathroom dated. Duvet water thin. We have checked in and gone straight under the covers with clothes on to try to keep warm. Two of us staying and only seems to be towels for one person. It feels like endurance so far!

We stayed here overnight , whilst visiting family nearby. We have previously stayed here a year ago. Staff were friendly and efficient. Room was comfortable . Bathrooms clean , but could do with a refurbish. Breakfast was lovely and waitress was on her own and managed a busy dining room very well. Bar area and seating areas of hotel very...

I'm a little confused by all the previous poor reviews. I had to stay one night on business and enjoyed it - my room was large, clean and well equipped, and my dinner and a couple of pints in the pub was equally enjoyable. So much so that when I had to return to the area two days later it...

I took my Mum for some luch in the Bell. We used to go occasionally and have a very nice fish and chips lunch, the last time would be perhaps 2-3years ago. We were in the bar for mid-day. What a dissapointment. The reviewer needs some TLC is entirely right. THe bar room floor needed a goor hoover and the...

Room and bathroom very tired and poorly clearned. Furniture old and dusty, the bathroom needs a full replacement. Breakfast poorly cooked, burnt food. Greene King need to improve the quality of their accomodation to compete with other national brands. This was our third stay in a GK property in the last year and is likely to be the last, as...

Stayed 1 night at the Bell Hotel whilst in Bury St Edmunds for work. Plenty of parking at the hotel, luckily didn't pay and display as it's included in the hotel stay. Check in with the friendly staff was easy, and I was off to my room. The hotel is in need of some redecorating to spruce it up a...

We stayed for 5 nights - the rooms are worn and aged but bed was comfortable. The bathroom door would not shut, the shower was difficult to get a good temperature of water and the tub was slippery and narrow. Enjoyed the pub, the staff and food were good.

I booked The Bell in for a short break with my mother, and to see family who live locally. From check-in to check-out we had a great time. They originally put us on the 2nd floor, but there is not lift, we were moved to the first floor for mother access. The room they re-allocated had not been made up,...
