Very nice place. The hotel was very clean and located in the city center. The rooms have kitchen. The staff were very kind and helpful. Will recommend for sure just a little negative point the kitchen was out of service however it did not bother me
I booked a single room for 2 nights. The hotel is very clean, doesn't have AC, and looks engaging at first. However, all single rooms are on the Rue de Lausanne side. Just in case, that Rue is pedestrian and full of "pleasant" restaurants. As a consequence, on a weekend night, street noise was overwhelming until past midnight, which is painful on a summer night. Management kindly relocated me to a double room, which are all located on the back side, promising a quiet night. Indeed, the mattress was way more comfortable. Very unfortunately, a neighbour decided to play his stereo at full blast until past 11:30 PM - so much for quietness. In general, the place being smack in the middle of the old town in Fribourg, don't expect it to be in a quiet area.
Location was the main reason why I booked this hotel, since I wanted to be in the middle of things and close enough to the railways station, which is an about 10 minutes walk from here. Rue de Lausanne, where the hotel with its 23 rooms can be found, is the pedestrianised main street in the old town of Fribourg with plenty of restaurants and cafés nearby. All main sights are in walking distance. After having booked, the hotel wrote to me that they have varying reception hours and gave me a telephone number to call them in advance. At the booking site the possibility of a breakfast is mentioned for CHF 15, but I was informed that due to Covis-19 this will not be the case. When at the hotel I could see that the reception is not always occupied, which is the reason why one has to always take the heavy room-key along. At least the main door next to the entrance to a cabaret is always open. My room was on the 5th floor out of 6, facing the Rue de Lausanne. Although there is the Italian restaurant 'Solemio' in front of the entrance and the street usually full of people, it was quiet, when I kept the windows closed. In the room was a writing desk with not a very good light and what I missed the most were reading lamps by the beds. What I didn't use on the other hand was the enormous empty fridge and the kitchen with a non-working stove. It had an electric kettle, but only tea-bags, no coffee. The bathroom was good with shampoo and shower gel dispensers by the shower and the washbasin. It had enough storage space as in the bedroom as well. No plug socket in the bathroom, but at ground level in the bedroom. The room was always very well cleaned. Staff at reception I saw only on arrival and departure. They were friendly and the bill was left in an envelope on the writing desk of my room. At departure - checkout is at 11am - I could leave my suitcase by the reception, but only till 3pm, since after that nobody would have been here anymore.…
The hotel is an old building, but room was quite modern and clean - and also basic and simple. 10 minutes walk from railway station. Room was spacious and had lot of storage. Bed was comfortable. Very short service times in reception.
Stayed here in room 63 for the past 5 days. The hotel is an old historical building and located on a pedestrian street in the heart of Fribourg. Access is super easy to get just about anywhere! Front desk staff was super friendly and I was surprised to read reviews which indicated otherwise! Breakfast was very good considering that breakie isn’t huge amongst the Swiss. My brother lives in the old town and took us around to see many of the sights. The mini kitchen was useful and with a supermarket nearby, we were able to have evening snacks with a glass of wine. None of the stovetop/ovens work and that’s for every room. They have been disconnected for safety reasons so you’ll have to work around that. We bought plastic plates and some napkins and everything was fabulous! Loved our stay and we would return in a flash!!! Bed was super comfy, lots of room to move around and facing the courtyard...AWESOME visit to this magnificent little town! Au plaisir Fribourg!…
This property is not what is advertised. After reading about the kitchen available, it is a laugh. Yes a fridge but like every other review no rooms have a working cooker, not are there any crockery or cutlery. While we didn’t really need to use them the company falsely advertises its room. It is close to the station. Premium tariff, desk staff very brusque and really could not care about the client. Pay and move on. The room was not as clean as I would have expected. Today’s temperature was over 26oC. With no aircon in the room only two windows to open it was very hot. I’d never contemplate staying here late Spring and Summer. The street noise permeates the whole building from the street and the gelateria below. The above rooms echo movement with chairs scrapping etc. Look elsewhere is my recommendation…
Looking for a hotel in Bern that wasn’t too expensive led me to consider Fribourg - 20 minutes to the West on the SBB route Hotel du Faucon is on Rue de Lausanne - just 10 minutes from the station The room was spacious, bright and clean with a fridge, nice lighting and comfortable beds. The Mini kitchen, behind wall closet doors, in our room, featured a cooker that was not working - but this was no inconvenience in our case At CHF95,00 per night (excluding CHF3,10 Local Tax per person per night) I think this is a fair deal and good choice for Switzerland, which is notoriously expensive of course. Visited Andermatt/Oberalppass, Interlaken/Grindelwald via Bern and Zuerich in a stay of three nights - thank you Hotel du Falcon!! Tres Bon / Guenstiges Hotel!!
Two twin beds with super thin mattresses pushed together, and pretty basic. We didn't have the large room that other reviewers mentioned, nor the cooker/hob, or the space. Wasn't impressed and thankfully we only booked one night. The restaurant is apparently famous, but I wasn't very impressed with the overpriced dessert I ate there.
I had an enjoyable stay at hotel faucon. It was simple but did the job. The staff were friendly, English speaking and accommodating. The room was comfortable with a LOT of storage and had a proper kitchen fridge which was useful. It also had a cooker and hob but this was out of order. The shower was good and everything was clean. For some reason I expected it to be a lot bigger and because of the other reviews, a bit better. The surprises were that the desk was not manned throughout the night. This closed at 9pm. Next door was a nightclub which caused no problems but was a little intimidating when coming back quite late. It really wasn’t that bad though. Breakfast was in the restaurant next door and again they were friendly and accommodating, I didn’t get to experience it much as I missed it each morning as I had to be out early. The soap and shower gel were out of a dispenser too which is fine but reiterated its simplicity. The location is great for restaurants and the train station. Not suitable for families I’d say but for businesses and couples traveling it’s fine. It’s three stars for me just because of its simplicity. Nothing to really complain about. Comfy nights sleep and I was on the fourth floor and it was peaceful. Hope it helps. …
This hotel its basically a block of flata transformed into a hotel. We have been placed at 5th floor. Nothing luxury, oven was not function, I do not understand why every room has one piece of that furniture, totally useless. Rooms were clean, breakfast was next door in a coffe shop, I believe they have a kind of a contract with them or maybe its just same owner. Food was allright nothing fancy. In the end I would say that stay was a bit pricy but thats everywhere in Switzerland don't understand why cause I have stayed in many hotels but its not justifying the prices. I would not give this more then 3 stars
