A very comfortable room, very modern interior, good parking space in their cellar, nice staff, good breakfast and the city center was a few minutes walk. Also they took every Covid rule serious. I would go there again.
Room with wooden floor with old furniture and old bathroom. You can clearly see that room is not clean. The bed is super soft and the pillow is super uncomfortable. The only good thing about it, the staff is very friendly.
For an overnight stay in Fribourg I chose Hotel Alpha and it definitely was very good value for money. From Fribourg train station it is a 10-minute walk to the hotel, which is located on a quiet street. Just don’t be put off by the building that reminds me of something from the 70s. The greatest asset is the staff, both at reception and during breakfast - smiling, friendly and very helpful. This is genuine hospitality. I chose the most basic room - a standard single room - and therefore did not have many expectations. The room was small - as in most hotels in Fribourg - but quite ok for one night, and spotlessly clean. Bed was comfortable. Strangely, there is a massive pillar in the middle of the room (see picture): disturbing at first, but you quickly get used to it. The breakfast room is bright and airy. The buffet itself was great, both in quantity and quality, and included rösti, homemade marmalade, local cheese. I will remember this hotel for any future stay in Fribourg.…
Alpha is a charming little hotel in a quiet residential neighborhood a stone throw’s away from Fribourg’s train station, and quite close to a shopping center and a number of restaurants and supermarkets. It’s a small but pleasant place. I have no complaints except for the size, which seems to be an issue with hotels in Fribourg generally. My room was quite tiny but generally functional and pleasant to stay in. The room was clean, the furniture new and stylish. The staff was very helpful. Among other things, they gave me a map and a city guide to help me get around. Overall, a good experience.
The hotel would probably rate a 3.5 if possible. Positive: Very friendly staff at reception, convenient and fair priced parking, room modern and clean. Why not rated a 4? A 4 would reflect a "very good" rating and it would take the hotel management to add a little touch of surprise here or there to be "very good". Everything is OK, but not more. Room in bland colours (grey, brown), no touch of any emotions anywhere. Wallpaper behind bed provides impression of leather, however is simply an economical furnishing. Small fridge in the room, but empty. Shampoo from cheap dispenser. View from window, nothing to talk about at all (something that can't be changed). In other words, a hotel OK for one night.
Stayed here one night in Late June. We booked the Omega suite which was meant to be their best room. We were disappointed because there was no ventilation at all in the bathroom or hotel room as the bathroom fan wasn’t working so the room got very uncomfortable and humid and like many ‘hotels’ in Switzerland there was no air conditioning. The omega suite also had a lot less soul than the photos online showed. There was also constant clanging noise from the elevator going up and down and people arriving back to their rooms (as they left the elevator). There’s also no phone in the room (?!) and the minibar fridge had nothing in it. Not sure why but the room service and restaurant menu was framed on the wall like art(?!). Reception staff and parking were very good and the location is not far from the main city. It’s such a shame the room was a let down - I wouldn’t call this boutique at all. If you want a true hotel experience in Switzerland, book with a chain hotel Is my advice.…
We liked everything about this hotel: the friendly staff-- as soon as we made the reservation they were eager to help; the convenient parking; the restaurant that stayed open for our late arrival on a Friday night, and more. The room was cozy and decorated nicely, the bathroom was fine with great floor tiles that seemed to just drink up the water after a shower, and the bed was a real large double (not two singles pushed together which is the norm in Switzerland). No minibar in the room but a lovely little red refrigerator that I would love to have at home. Coat racks were long enough to actually hang a winter coat! Good curtains kept out the light and the cold. And, finally, lots and lots of TV channels. Free wifi. Our dog was welcome! Very efficient and friendly cleaning staff made sure our stay was enjoyable.…
Very nice little hotel in fribourg, very near the train station and downtown. The room was modern, clean and spacious. Reception was very friendly. Breakfast was very good for only 15.-/ person - very correct. I fell sick on the last day and staff let us checkout 3h later for only 20.- supplement. I really appreciated it. I would stay here again! The only negative point was the lighting in the room - a blue light could not be switched off or hidden. Very difficult to sleep for me, light intolerant. But besides that, all positive :-)
I stayed 2 nights in Fribourg. It's downtown near the train station, very convenient to shops and a few restaurants. It was very comfortable, albeit a little small. I'd definitely stay there again. The staff was very friendly. I did not try the restaurant
I felt really welcome in the alpha hotel, with a highly efficient check-in and check-out, accompanied by a smile. The hotel is a bit like an IBIS hotel, but a slight bit more classy. The bed is OK, but a bit soft, rooms have all basic amenities, wifi works. I could really hear people in the other room shifting things. No airco furthermore. The water tap in my bathroom (2nd floor) really produced a very tiny stream that also took long to become warm. Breakfast is a bit more than simple, but only yoghurt in little packs and no fresh juices. Good coffee though from a friendly waiter.
