Nice hotel located in the center. The first night we were very satisfied. After that we got a room with separate beds even though we didn't ask for it. It wasn't as much of a problem as not being able to change the temperature, we got cold during our stay, the radiator was warm, barely turned on. During the cleaning of the rooms they changed the towels but they didn’t supply us with shampoo and shower gel which were finished the day before. For the rest it is a recommendable hotel.
I was very torn between giving a poor or average review. Given the fabulous location, steps from the cathedral and just above the old town, and the clean bed I would say this is average. However this is not a 4 star hotel. The check-in was very unfriendly and borderline just rude. The other staff we encountered during our 2 night stay also were not pleasant. The room was very worn and although clean was poorly maintained. The restaurant options and the food were also poor and they had run out of beer. Overall, the only recommendation is the location and if you get a decent deal just be prepared for a dated 2-3 star hotel.
This hotel is located near the old town of Friborg. It is the most picturesque pretty town I’ve seen in a while. The hotel is a quaint looking older building (which is very unique). It’s certainly not a 5 star luxury hotel but I was grateful for the unique experience of staying In this beautiful little town. It felt as if I was in another time Pre world war. The room was compact but that’s to be expected in countries like Switzerland. The decor was more modern than the outside facade. Neutral Soothing tones. Very Comfortable beds, nice linen and towels. No air conditioning but the windows do open which is nice (except if you are facing the front where there can be a lot of local traffic). Didn’t hear the church bells too often as others have mentioned. The windows are double glazed I believe, so if they are closed there’s not much noise disturbance. Maybe Recommend getting a room facing the back of the property. No views but quieter. The rooms facing the front don’t have spectacular views either but do face the town which I thought was nice except for the loud people walking past and the local hoons driving past. Bathroom was compact but sufficient. Good shower pressure. The one Negative I found was, the bathtub. The shower is in the bathtub which was quite high off the ground and I was petrified I was going to slip and have a fall getting in and out. Quite scary. Didn’t like that at all. And I’m not an old person. Transport around the hotel is excellent with buses that stop close to the front of the hotel that are 5 minute ride to Friborg train station which takes you to anywhere in Switzerland. Or you can take a mice 15 minute walk to the station too.…
We were lucky enough to be here on August 1st, Swiss National Day. The perfect viewing point for the firework display was a 2-minute walk away. The lovely old streets and places to eat were also nearby. Our room was spacious and comfortable, although we faced the hot-weather dilemma - we tried one night with windows open, but the various church clock bells made sleeping difficult. So, we went with using the fan which was in the room through the night. Breakfast was good quality, and run by a very cheerful and friendly lady.
This is supposed to be a four star hotel. Restaurant only open for breakfast no food offered in the evening. The bar is a joke, only offering wine or beer no spirits or cocktails etc Small niggle, the reception guy was more interested in looking at his phone than dealing with our enquiries but he was pleasant enough. Certainly will never stay here again.
The minifridge did not work in the firat day amd they didn't want to change it right on the spot (probably because it was late) but offered to keep our food in their kitchen until the next day when they changed it. No sewer or ventilation in the bathroom. Clean and very spatious, the view was toward the church but you don't hear the noise of the bells. They ask you for your credit card number to verify the booking.
Switzerland is a place where it has been difficult to find hotels sometimes. We picked this hotel and were amazed at its comfort and location, Check-in was easy and the large room had a comfortable bed. Our room overlooked an historic or at least picturesque square. If traveling in this area, highly recommend. It is an easy ride by train to Geneva Airport and you can’t forget a visit to Villars Chocolate Store.
We stayed there for one night, it was good, good service, nice room, small but more than we needed. We like it. The hotel is in front of the famous cathedral, not so far from the main station. Really well located. We did not like that the hotel did not offer the transportation card as many other hotels in other cities, not sure if in Fribourg is different, though.
Hotel is strategically located in the city center. Very near to bus and train station and a stones throw away from the beautiful St. Nicholas Cathedral. restaurants and shops are within walking distance. We stayed for 2 nights on a small and simple but functional room. The hotels dining room has a terrace where you can have a great view. It was our first time in Fribourg but we had a great time walking around and exploring.
Room was clean, but small. There was a window but I saw only a next wall. Stuff was nice and helpfull. Hotel bar was kind of a small one. Price, it is Switzerland so for me it was not cheap. Area is nice, walking distance (like 15 - 20 minutes) from main train station. Several restaurants nearby. Place is quiet during the night, so you can sleep well. Advice: ask for a room with real view.
