This is a modern Parador hotel, whereas we usually choose Spanish hotels in older buildings, but we weren't disappointed - the location is excellent, and it is great to park the car at the hotel and then walk into town We were pleased with our room - an excellent shower/bath, and very comfortable bed, with a good view over the swimming pool and garden. Everything was extremely clean, and distancing is maintained throughout the hotel, both by staff and fellow guests. the reception area is particularly mindful of the need to keep a distance. Great to have a pool during hot weather - while there is social distancing it is necessary to book a slot to use the pool, but in fact nobody checks, and while we were there, there were only ever a couple of people in the pool. We paid for breakfast, which was really good - a very good range of Spanish food - hams/ humous/vegetarian dips, figs, fruit and cheese, all served in plastic containers to prevent people touching them - if you do choose any of these it's worth taking what you don't finish to eat later, as the portions are generous, and you can take what you like. Also freshly squeezed orange juice. We also had a cooked breakfast, done to order, with a very good selection of different kinds of bread, And our favourite part of the breakfast was the view - down onto the fields - if you go to the end opposite the breakfast bar, you get the most wonderful sunrise over the rock 'El Enamorados' - this would depend what time you have breakfast, or course! It's certainly worth choosing your breakfast time to tie in with sunrise! The hotel is also well placed to visit the most important local sights - Los Domenes and the Torcal National park - both astoundingly interesting. It's worth going early to Los Domenes, as only 1/2 people are allowed in at the same time due to social distancing, so it's good to go before it gets busy. I would definitely stay in this hotel again, and really enjoyed our stay here.

Had a good stay generally. Rooms are corporate, no balcony but very comfortable, good air con and beds were good. Service was ok but with COVID-19 measures in place, things took longer which was understandable. But I have to say, and I have emailed the parador directly about this with no response, the pool area was absolutely filthy and we could not use it, despite the temperature being 35 degrees. I expected the standards to be high, as we are all in the midst of a pandemic. The pool has a large tide mark of scumaround it’s, the steps and handrails were ingrained with dirt. The glass panels were so dirty, you could hardly see through them, covered in birds mess and dirt. The lifesaving ring was completely cracked and broken. The outdoor poolside showers were filthy with mouldy water settled in them. In 3 days we saw no one attending to the pool or cleaning it and this ruined our break as we were looking forward to a relaxing sunbathe and swim. Such a shame to let this otherwise lovely hotel down.

We were there for 2 nights just as the 'lockdown' and closure of all Paradors was 'kicking in'. We were looked after extremely well by a helpful and friendly team, especially Incarnation (not sure if I have got her name right!), Joseph at breakfast and Javier in the bar area. Abigail the manager helped us enormously in a very difficult situation for everyone. We hope to return next year to resurrect our tour of Malaga and Granada.

Everything was high standard, though it did remind us more of a business hotel without much character. Staff friendly and helpful and kindly provided a lovely cold breakfast for us at 7.00 as we had an early start. Lovely to have a bath in the room, bed very comfortable, though why they have a digital temperature readout that illuminates the whole room is a mystery. We were on half board but decided to eat in the bar rather than the restaurant as the restaurant was empty and the bar was bustling. We had the most disgusting pizzas we have ever eaten, the sort of thing they serve to teenagers in crummy pubs. On the plus side the wine was good, also the flan we had for pudding. So this was a mistake we will never make again.

Dear Mrs. Chesterfield, In the first place, we would like to thank you to take time for writing a review about your recent stay at our Parador. We could see that except for the meal at the bar, you have enjoyed your stay. We appreciate, on the other side, your comment about it, because it's the way we could see which aspects we have to improve in, and we also regret that it wasn't as expected. We would be glad if we could welcome you back in the future. Best regards Online Reputation Management
