We loved staying at the Hrifunes Guesthouse. We booked a 4-person room but they had an empty room and let us take that as well! The guesthouse is warm, cozy, and welcoming. You MUST participate in the Hrifunes dinner, it is a really nice communal meal, and the food is the best you will eat in Iceland. Make sure to...

We made a last minute booking and couldn't have been happier. We stayed in a double room with shared bathroom but it is only shared by two rooms and when we stayed the other room was vacant. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful giving us advice on driving routes, the weather, and where to go. There is a family...

We stayed at Hrifunes Guesthouse because our private guide for three days in the Highlands, Haukur ("Hawk") and his wife Heppa, are the owners of the guesthouse! He arranges for his clients to stay at their guesthouse if they are within the proximity. Even if Hawk had not arranged our stay, Hrifunes Guesthouse was our best overnight stay in Iceland...

We stayed for two nights and it was wonderful if you are wanting to explore the south region! Very cozy and the food was amazing! Also a great place to see the northern lights if they are out! Highly recommend!

We had a great stay here. The rooms are very nicely decorated and comfortable - great bed, bathroom and shower. Our hostess cooked a delicious 3 course dinner which we had both nights of our stay. Breakfast is good too. The location is great for a mid-point on the South Coast. It's a rural area, so we saw a great...

Friendly, helpfull owners. All 3 rooms really nice and clean. Photos on their website is really what you get. Great breakfast ! Because of our busy program we had no time to have dinner in the nice kitchen area and meet the other guests. Quiet place. Approx 10 min drive from the 209 highway over a brandnew asfalt road. Recommend...

I've stayed with Hadda and Haukur twice at Hrifunes and met up with them a third time in Reykjavik. They are consummate professionals and happy hosts, offering social experience and personable hospitality. I can't say enough about their warmth and generosity. The rooms are modern and well appointed. For those worried at remoteness, don't be. The location is perfect for...

We stayed here because we wanted a b&b type of experience and because we'd read that it's a great place for a family-style meal. It also feels (is!) in the middle of nowhere, another draw. Note that there are 2 roads to get here from the main road. We didn't realize that and were coming from the east; that route...

The good news is that the Hrifunes guest house is adding half a dozen more rooms to its little complex on top of a very windy hill a couple of kilometres north of Route 1 near the unpronounceable village of Kirkjubaejarklaustur. This is a very unassuming little place but something of a gem. The hostess, Ingeborg, is warm Icelandic hospitality...

This was with no doubt the most cozy guesthouse of our round trip. It is located in the beautiful Kirkjubaejarklaustur area in the South of Iceland and has amazing views... As besides breakfast they also serve a great dinner, don't hesitate to stay here!! Sylvia
