This simple, but comfy hotel sits directly across the street from a series of pseudo craters that you'll also find on Mars! Lake Myvatn with its black sands and teeming bird life is just beyond. Photogenic Icelandic sheep abound and it isn't rare when one or two break loose and scurry through the parking lot with farmers and sheepdogs hot...

On our tour of Iceland we were upgraded to this hotel as the original one decided to close. We were very fortunate as I believe this was a much better hotel. The rooms were clean and fresh, the food in the restaurant very good and there was a two hour happy hour! Alcohol is expensive in Iceland so half price...

Stayed here for one night during my visit to the northern Iceland in Nov 2015. Excellent hotel. Has large rooms which offer views to the outside scenery that Northern Iceland is known for... Highly recommended. The hotel also offers a 'complimentary' wake up call to sight northern lights. I have been lucky during my visit in Nov 2015 - They...

We enjoyed our 3-night stay at this hotel....the room was nicely appointed, 2 twin beds comfortable, and our own bathroom...all very clean. Coffee and tea can be made in the room, and there is a large restaurant on the main floor. Breakfast was buffet-style, with many options such as fruits and juices, hot dishes, meats, muesli and yogurt/Skyr, breads and...

Lovely hotel with comfortable beds and great breakfast. The bathroom even have underfloor heating, which is great during winter. The staff also offered a northern lights call and will inform you when the northern lights are visible. Best breakfast so far with scrambled eggs, salad, bacon, sausages, whole selection of bread and herring. Wonderful stay in front of the Skútustaðir!

It's a good hotel. Clean and spacious room, comfortable bed. Coffe and tea facilities in the room. A nice lake view. Reasonable breakfast. Very good and pleasant staff, except the medium age male waiters in the restaurant. The restaurant intends to be fancy. I seem younger. I was travelling alone. I'm not blond. I could realize I had differentiated attending,...

Hotel was nice enough. The room was clean and English TV to relax to. Good WiFi. Good shower. Comfy beds. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location was good to drop bags off then do the sight seeing. Food was adequate quality in the evening however breakfast was great. A good stay overall.

Room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was good and plentiful. The water is thermally heated so has a smell. They offer a northern lights wake-up service but was needed as we could see the lights from our room. Staff where very helpful and friendly. We would stay again.

Was a weekend in this lovely hotel. The rooms are good and clean,. The bed is confortable and the breakfast buffet is really nice. The surroanding is quit unic and in the night you can see the stars and the northern lights dance in the sky. If you want to sleep you can ask staff to wake you up if...

The rating I have given here is only for the room which was clean, roomy and well presented. Like other reviewers have mentioned the sulphur smell in the bathroom water is quite overwhelming and am sure that the hotel management should look into this, although I doubt they will. The so-called restaurant however was a real let down! The staff...
