We took a Brittany Ferries three nights for two bargain break to Normandy. We chose the L'Hostellerie du chateau at Bricquebec which is only 20 miles from Cherbourg. The hotel is in a beautifully restored building attached to the 1000-year-old castle and overlooks the central courtyard. Our room & bathroom were quite spacious and well appointed although we didn't like...

If you're getting the late fast ferry from Portsmouth to Cherbourg (arrives about 7.20 in the evening) Bricquebec is a handy 25 minute drive from the port and makes a great overnight stop. The hotel is set in a converted Château in the centre of town and my room was a decent size and very comfortable. And as a bonus,...

Staff all very helpful. Very quiet. A lot of character and charm. The setting is magnificent. But our room was tiny. There were only 2 plugs - one for the fridge t he other the TV.. in the days of phones, cameras Tec that need charging, hair to dry, Tec this does not work. We ate here the first night....

For an amazing experience...stay at this castle. Embrace the unique setting and ambience. Our second visit to Bricquebec and we were made very welcome again. The Knights Hall is a step back in time. A lovely experience.

Booking for two rooms made in June were not honoured and we were bounced into an awful local establishment which was basic, dirty shabby and smelly. No apology ior explanation. Take it or leave it attitude so we left it and stayed in a much better hotel 12 Kim's away. One to avoid which is a shame as location and...

A fantastic hotel and restaurant with so much to recommend it. Medieval courtyard vaulted cellars. Frequented by Queen Victoria (well one visit). Staff/owners almost a parody of helpfulness. If there was an Olympic gold medal for service they'd win it. (Or perhaps get the silver behind GB, like in Rio). Restaurant dining and breakfast was the best of this trip...

Coming in through a gate in the wall and you are transformed many hundreds of years back in time. The family of Bertrand started to build at the estate in the 14th century. Walls surround the courtyard and a high fortified tower gives a majestic protection to the castle. The rooms are furnitured in old style and handsome decorated. The...

Booked this last minute on Expedia - first problem was getting to the hotel as all the roads to it had been blocked off due to a very busy festival going on (late on a Sunday night ) having a 4 year old child with us and seeing the festival was going to be noisy and the fact of not...

Ate here on 25th July in the evening. Staff were really friendly and the setting was beautiful. Food was of a decent standard and good quality though not amazing. Would recommend the beef, pork or lamb main courses. 3 courses for 3 people plus a bottle of wine and water and couple of soft drinks came to 125 euros. They...
