This place is magical and I always try to stay at least a night when I'm in the area. The rooms are literally works of art, with incredible stained class everywhere. Those who think it's overpriced should stay somewhere else. There are plenty of cheap hotels around but few as beautiful as this one.

I had tears in my eyes as I handed over my keys this morning to kind Byron upon my departure from the Aaculaax Hotel. I absolutely LOVED my stay here. I lived in Sonrisa for the past month, walking 20 minutes every morning to my massage/health classes at Casa de Flores on the road toward San Pablo. Sonrisa has floor...

We had an amazing time in the small village of San Marcos highly in part to the Aaculaax. We unfortunately tried for a cheaper room and only La Mirador HoneyMoon Suite if you will was available, so we splurged and got it for 2 nights and I am SO GLAD that we did. It was the coolest thing to shower...

We travelled to the area from Antigua, and if you are doing this, get the hotel to arrange the driver as it was cheaper than arranging it in Antigua. If possible, ask for Domingo, because a nicer man you could not meet and he really looked after us both to the area and back again. We went via the Chichi...

The location is stunning. I loved Aaculaax so much that I talked to the manager about staying longer than we had originally intended. We agreed on a price for our extended stay, but when my husband and I went to check out, the manager quoted us a far higher price and insisted that breakfast was not included in that price....

We stayed at this extraordinary hotel for three nights in January 2013. Sunrise was our room for the first two nights, with a breathtaking view of both Lake Atitlan and the volcanos. The room was two levels with a deck facing east. A small refrigerator and stove, along with an espresso coffee pot were provided. There was also a large...

We were fortunate enough to secure a budget room at this hotel and it was the best value hotel in San Marcos with the best surrounding. My partner looked at almost all the accommodation in San Marcos and we instantly realised this place was the best. Unfortunately the budget rooms were booked out so we went back in the morning...

I came here with my husband for our honeymoon and stayed for four nights. We had the sirene room which has a great view , a kitchen ,balconey and nice bedroom. The bathroom was very special built inside a rock. The staff of the hotel were friendly and very helpful. Especially Byron which we went for a hike with and...

I saw this beautiful hotel a couple of years ago when I visited the area and knew I would be back someday and stay here. When you get off the boat, little boys will grab your backpack or luggage whether you want them to or not, and carry it for you to your hotel. They know English and will engage...

I've just returned from a solo trip to Lake Atitlan from my home in Brooklyn, during which I stayed in Aaculaax for each of my seven nights. I ADORED the place and look forward to coming back with one or both of my teenage daughters. The hotel is intimate, quirky, and well-designed--and I felt beautifully taken care of by Lilly,...
