We stayed two nights when we visited the Arenal area. Nice basic room with a microbrewery attached . What I appreciated most about LAB was the people (all very friendly and hospitable) and that there was no price gouging going on here, the food was excellent and I just appreciated the home-town, laid-back vibe at this place. Some downsides are...

Lake Arenal Hotel and Brewery is an all in one place, offering it's guests a lovely view of the Lake Arenal, delicious variety of home brewed beers, amazing food, a skate park for the more radical guests and close encounters with a variety of jungle animals ( especially the Howler Monkey) and insect's. The only thing missing at this wonderful...

I cane back here because their portonello burger was the bwst I have had. Today we came excited to have wonderful burgers, my hamburger was not a shadow of what it was last time and this time our hamburgers were turned. The meat from the hamburger smelled as the meat cooled. The cook came and denied it was bad meat...

So sorry that there was a problem with your meal. As your cattle rancher friend probably knows, most of the beef in this country comes from a distinctly different cow originally from India (known as brahman). You'll see mixes of these breeds, with extra long ears, grazing throughout this small country. Their meat is different tasting too—producing a very lean...

We have had several very good meals there the last month. Good food, beer and the service has been good. The other night was a busy night with their special and windy surfers coming to the area. They had a young singer who was very good also.

We didn't stay here so I can't review the hotel. The beer is very good. Make sure to go outside and sit with views of the Lake while drinking your beer - inside is a bit stuffy with lots of flies buzzing around. Great staff, if you're passing through don't miss the Saison or the Stout. Great views of the...

Sweet baby Jeebuz! We found this amazing gem nestled into the rolling hillside surrounding Lake Arenal on our way to Monteverde from La Fortuna. As a craft beer enthusiast with a waning palate for Imperial after several days in the CR countryside this place was an unexpected oasis. Burgers, brews, and views! The burgeoning craft beer scene in CR is...

My friend and I stayed here for a few days and it took a while to get used to, but I didn't want to leave at the end. We originally though that it was on the lake, but that isn't the case. I don't think there are any hotels in that area that are actually on the lake. You can...

This is our second trip to CR and we make this is must stop while we're there.. If you like micro-brews, you'll love this place. Micro-brews are hard to find in CR so I'd suggest you swing in for a taste! Beautiful views of Lake Arenal. Comfortable atmosphere!!

To be frankly, this is a special place and really difficult to rate. We stayed 2 nights towards the end of low season. The hotel is sort of a fantasy complex with excellent lake views. When we arrived, the basin and tub in our room were dirty with some weird crumbly matter - I'm sure they cleaned it, but not...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Is the crown jewel of a 15-acre organic farm and world-renowned green-energy education center in Northern Costa Rica. With dramatic red-ochre pillars and colorful walls adorned with hand-painted frescos, the 21-room hotel overlooks hundreds of acres of Costa Rica's protected jungle and the rainbow shores of beautiful Lake Arenal. Our closest neighbors are toucans and parrots, howler monkeys, sloths, armadillos and occasionally, wild cats such as the Puma Jaguarondi. Also home to Costa Rica's first microbrewery, Lake Arenal Hotel serves farm-fresh food at its on-site restaurant, La Huerta, with an international menu. Come enjoy the relaxed ambience, delicious food and what many of our customers say is the "best beer in Costa Rica" produced on-site by Lake Arenal Brewery. A tennis court, swimming pool, Jacuzzi and fully-equipped classroom are just some of the hotel's amenities. Two flat-screen TVs in the bar/restaurant and free high-speed wifi throughout the facilities make your stay at Lake Arenal Hotel modern and comfortable. Just one-and-a-half hours from Liberia Airport and three hours from the San Jose Airport, Lake Arenal Hotel offers a wide variety of on-site activities and day-tours, including waterfall hikes, horseback riding, sailing trips, kite-boarding lessons, river rafting, zip-lining, rappelling and day-trips to the nearby volcanoes and hot springs. ... more   less
