We absolutely loved this place. The only downside was that we only managed to stay one night!! The place feels authentic and traditional. It has been loving restored and it is just wonderful to stay somewhere with so much character. Our hosts were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed every minute. There's a wonderful garden area and a place to... More

I stayed here for almost 3 weeks in total while working for a local NGO. I tried out 3 rooms in that time so got a pretty good feel for the place. The owners are absolutely lovely and and always happy to help. They provide a top notch breakfast, which generally consists of western and eastern foods so there's always... More

I stayed at Newa Chen for 1 night at the end of my stay in Nepal. I was met by the friendly and lovely owner who offered me tea. My room was clean, they supplied several free bottles of water and fruit in the room, they had toilet paper and the bathroom was actually nice. Newa Chen was a very... More

We travel so we can learn about other people -their ways, their culture, their history. Thanks to Newa Chen, I was offered a glimpse into a Nepali home - modern yet traditional, embracing the present yet appreciative of the past. Mr. Shrestha, the owner, treated me not so much a paying guest as a family friend from long ago who... More

Newa Chen was recommended by a friend who has lived in Kathmandu for 20 years. Beautiful old restored house with real character run by very nice people. I wouldn't bother with anywhere else after staying here.

We had two separate stays of 4 nights each at the beginning and end of our time in Nepal. We couldn't have asked for better service, nothing was to much trouble even an early breakfast at 6.45 one morning. Ordering taxis and getting fair priced ones. Our room was delightfully spacious and clean. We had booked the delux room, the... More

Newa Chen was a fantastic find while on holiday in Kathmandu. Located in the Patan area south of the main city, this place transports you back a thousand years into the former residence of nobility. Spotlessly clean and totally renovated with guidance from UNESCO, the owners did an incredible job with this place. Book with complete confidence. We found the... More

We stayed here during our last two nights in Nepal, and are so pleased we chose this guest house. Having had a hectic time travelling around Nepal and finally into Patan, arriving at Newa Chen was like reaching a little oasis of calm. As previous reviews have mentioned, the guest house has been beautifully restored, and it feels a real... More
