Our stay at the Sinna Dorai Upper Paralai Bungalow, part of the Murugappa group, was a fantastic first-time experience in a historic British-style bungalow. Perched atop a hill within a 1,000-acre organic tea estate, the location is breathtaking, offering tranquility and stunning views. The property is impeccably maintained, and the staff's warmth and friendliness truly enhanced our stay. It's clear they are carefully selected for their passion for hospitality and receive specialized training, which shines through in their service.
Our room was extremely comfortable, featuring a great bathroom with a hot shower. The bungalow also has a library for relaxation. Opportunities abound for wildlife sightings (book the night safari in advance) and peaceful walks to nearby private streams. A visit to their organic tea factory, where they produce tea for export, is also a must. You can purchase delicious organic teas and lemon tea at the property (not at the factory).
The food was excellent, with a diverse selection of South Indian dishes, particularly with a Chettinad influence.
While the 5km approach road from the main road is in poor condition with many potholes, the incredible experience that awaits you at the top is well worth the bumpy ride.
Special thanks to the outstanding staff, including Joel, Kalai, and Chef Ashirvadham.
Our stay was truly five-star, and we definitely plan to return.

After 40 hairpin bends and a 3-hour road journey from Coimbatore Airport, we arrived at Sinna Dorai's Bungalow. It is a further 5 kms uphill drive to the Bungalow after we turned off the main road into the estate. The staff at the Bungalow are very hospitable and nice. The welcome drink - iced lemon tea from the tea grown at another of their estates in Valparai was very refreshing and was like a prelude to our refreshing vacation at Sinna Dorai's Bungalow
We enjoyed the quiet and solitude, the fresh air and chirping of birds. There are 6 rooms/cottages. Two rooms in the main bungalow, two cottages a few steps away from the main Bungalow and two cottages further down which would require some walking. There are convenient timings for meals at the restaurant in the main bungalow. Food is delicious and homely with large servings.
This is a destination to rest and refresh. If one is looking for a place full of activities and things to do, then this may not be the place. We were in the middle of a working tea estate where there is plenty of flora and fauna. These are the elements we enjoyed and did not step out of the estate the entire time we were there.
Our thanks to Surabhi for helping us with our reservations and responding to our queries. Murugan, Joel, Kalai, Jhansi, Davam and the rest of the staff were there to take care of us. We felt at home!
We hope to come back some day and also visit their other properties.

Bungalow by all means with spacious and tastefully furnished rooms- spacious bathroom, high raise ceilings, sit outs, common reading room etc. We stayed for 4 full days with my kids. Generally, we feel cramped inside a room but this one is a real surprise. The property is of course pricey but perfectly delivers what one would expect for that price. No reviews was or will be complete without thanking the chef. Food is highlight of this property. Murugan took us to a few bird watching sites and was enthusiastic showing the bird life. He was also very proud about organic tea garden of the bungalow and helped us understand the efforts. The night watchman had lot of stories about elephants, leopard, bears and helped us to sight civet and owl. Staffs Chitra and Uma helped us to clean the mess created by our little one without any complaint. Overall a very happy stay and we found lot of friendly guests who are regularly visiting this property. That speaks of the service and we had no complaints too ☺️
PS : Rooms didn’t have soap and tooth brush. They had shampoo and moisturiser. We had our own kit and hence didn’t ask staffs about this. Please note to bring.

Sinnadorai bungalow is a well maintained property at a very beautiful and serene location. The drive from the main road to the bungalow itself was quite an experience with greener all around and occasional encounters with bisons among other wild animals. The rooms are well maintained and the property retains its colonial charm. The staff members here were extremely humble, and their personal care and attention to every guest were remarkable. Murugan was an excellent host - very patient and attentive towards comfort for every guest. He also doubled up as a superb tour manager in helping us see the charm of the Paralai Tea Estate and Valparai. A thoroughly enjoyable stay and vacation indeed.

Though we have been a few times there, it never gets bored. This time we took our niece over. We had to share time between Munnar and Valparai. Thinking the young girl would get bored in Valparai, we just spent a night there and planned to spend the next two nights in Munnar. But every one of us were so much in love with this property, that we regretted we stayed just one night. Homely, and no nonsense food. Hospitality at its best.. We even wanted to know what is the brand of rice they cook, and then when we left we searched and bought the same rice. I would love to spend every holiday there

This place takes you literally to the top of the world. Views are excellent. Valparai is hidden gem . Surabhi the property manager is very friendly and all the staff are courteous. Food by cook Asirvadham is very home style , simple and tasty unlike those spreads in hotels. . Forget your gadgets and listen to the birds. Great place to be with family. Joel , Kalai and Murugan were always eager to help and show around the places. It’s a huge estate with little streams inside the property. Bird watching, animal spotting , everything was wonderful. 100% One would want to come again to this place . Pls plan atleast two days in this place.

After a whole lot of hairpin bends when we reached this place we were pleasantly surprised with the beauty of the property. The bunglow and cottages have the centuries old charm, well maintained and tastefully modified. The authentic and extremely tasty south Indian food want us to go back to this place

Excellent, spacious, well maintained cottages with lovely view. It is a long drive to reach the property from airport but it offers a very relaxing holiday once you reach there. The traditional food is worth trying.

My friend Geetha, my grandson & I stayed in this property from September 27th to 30th. It is an ultimate property for nature lovers. Ms.Meenu Nair who is in charge of guest relations is a wonderful person who took care of all our needs. Should mention Mr. Murugan the care taker & Mr. Asirvadham the awesome cook. The room is spacious with victorian furniture. The verandah over looking a beautiful Valley was the bonus. The bungalow is located in the Parry Agro Tea Estate. The entire property is well maintained with beautiful gardens & lawn. Mr. Murugan took us to stream in the estate to bathe which was a wonderful experience. Sinnadorai Bungalow is THE place to stay in Valparai.

This is a lovely, well maintained property with 6 cottages/rooms with fabulous views. Courteous Staff, long walks, and extremely fresh and mouth watering food has been our experience. The drive is little tiring since it is on top of a hillock.

yes july would be a good time to visit because of the natural beauty. The place would be wonderfully green as the rains would have come. but the chance for wildlife sightings for this time is comparitively very less
There are more places to choose from in the Valparai area.
