My buddy and I rented a nice room on second floor with a large balcony and hammock. It was clean, bright and had a great view. The staff were happy and helpful and seemed to enjoy being there as much as I. My old college buddy and I are now 70ish but we were very much accepted by the many...

The night we arrived was open mic night which seemed to be a lot of fun however when we decided to get into bed our bed sheets were dirty with the reminents of the previous guests bodily fluids and it was actually appalling.  Having been a Housekeeper for 6 years I've cleaned plenty of dirty rooms however I never thought...

Taking into considering your claims of many years in hospitality, I am sure you can understand that not everything is possible to be perfect always. We accept and apologise for the initial problems upon your arrival in which we addressed promptly and tried very hard to again follow up on and resolve. Generally anyone from a hospitality background sympathises on...

As we pulled the sheets back to settle into bed, we noticed stains hidden under the pillows, as if the sheets hadn't been washed or they'd been overlooked during cleaning, mistakes happen of course but with the experience both my gf and I have working in hospitality for 15+ years there's no mistaking these stains were that of male or...

Same response as the feedback above. We have actually meet quite a few of the people you have discouraged to come and many of the hostel community in Guatemala who feel sorry that you are you appear to continually have such a bad time and terrible experiences here in this lovely country. In fact, the community made up of many...

My boyfriend and I arrived to Lake Atitlan without much of a plan. We initially booked 1 night and eneded up staying 4 because we loved it so much. The hospitality is outstanding here. Being a vegetarian I thought I would struggle finding a good meal but I ate better here each night then I would at home. The staff...

La Iguana is a beautiful youth hostel right on Lake Atitlan, easy to get to by boat, and a quick hike from local villages and some great scenery. Well worth the visit! The accommodations were clean and comfortable, and the food was good as well. I enjoyed the diverse mix of travelers and staff, it really felt like a friendly,...

Wonderful hotel, relaxed atmosphere. It's a young, fun, European crowd, and the hotel is open & airy so sound travels pretty easily. That all works out as long as people are considerate of others' need for quiet, especially after about 10PM. You can see where this review is going. It's luck of the draw whether you'll get considerate fellow travelers...

Such a wonderful relaxing visit! We were "3 crazy ladies" and spent just one night at the Iguana after hiking Nariz early that morning and then taking a boat to Santa Cruz. We splurged on one of their nicest rooms (still quite affordable) and had a wonderful view of the lake and volcanos. The food was fantastic and the evening...

I spent a week at La Iguana Perdida and had a fantastic time! The people who worked there were friendly and helpful; the meals they made were delicious (french toast with fruit and bacon was my go-to every morning); the communal dinners were great for making friends; and having an on-site diving school was perfect. The walls were a bit...

My girlfriend and I spent the last 2 nights of our Guatemalan backpacking trip at the "luxurious" La Iguana Perdida. We had been budget traveling in dorms up until then and had decided to splurge on a private room at a nice hostel. My girlfriend had booked a specific room in the hostel 3 months prior. We arrived around 11:00...
