Casa Prana is located next to the village of Santa Cruz La Laguna on the edge of Lake Atitlan. The connection to the property is made only by boat through Panajachel, the main village in the area. The boat of Casa Prana picks and delivers the guests from and to Panajachel, on the arrival and departure days. It is also possible to reach the property through helicopter. Travel time to Guatemala City is around 3 hours by car or 25 minutes by Helicopter. Welcome to Paradise.

Entering the gates of Casa Prana is like entering into Paradise; It is something unique about this place. More than the beauty of the nature and the hotel itself it is also the energy there. You feel welcome and that you've entered at a place filled with love. The tropical garden with butterflies, birds and wonderfully smelling flowers leads you through the gates and up to the hotel .The hotel itself is so tastefully decorated; beautiful and elegant, but still charming and cosy, and all the candles in every room underlines this feeling.
I had the pleasure of trying out several different rooms; all so unique and well decorated. One had an incredible bathtub with the view of the lake and one of the volcanoes. It was the most amazing feeling having a bath from there , while watching the sunset, after a long day in the sun. All the rooms had really good beds and I slept like a baby every night; falling a sleep to the jungle sounds and waking up to the birds singing the most beautiful serenades.
The employees at Casa Prana all seem very proud to work there and they treat you with such a kindness. Even the cleaning lady gives you the most beautiful smile when you pass her, and she makes sure your room always have fresh flowers. My entire stay they all paid attention that I had everything I needed at any time.
That leads me to the food; I thought maybe it would be difficult getting food that pleased me as I have a lot of allergies, but this turned out not to be a problem at all. They served me the most delicious food and facilitated every request I had. The fruit and vegetables were so fresh and tasteful, and everything was so beautifully prepared with edible flower decorations. I did also try some of the traditional food and it was so delicious I ended up ordering it several times. Everything I tried on the menu was yummy. Very yummy !!
I mostly had my lunch at the pool. Sitting by the beautiful pool, surrounded by flowers and singing birds, with the view of the lake having lunch was one of my favorite moments of the day. They also have a great yoga studio and gym in the middle of the jungle, with view of the lake and the volcanoes . It was truly an amazing place to work out.
Staying at Casa Prana , experiencing its beauty , the friendly people working there and feeling in harmony with the power full nature left me with such an amazing feeling inside. I am truly grateful for my experience and will for sure return shortly.

Be prepared to want to stay longer. We changed our plans as soon as we arrived and extended our stay at Casa Prana from 2 to 4 days. My mom and I have traveled to many places together but we can’t recall a hotel more tranquil and peaceful as Casa Prana. A lot of thought has gone into making Casa Prana the unique luxury hotel that it is. There are thoughtful touches throughout, such as candles lit all over the inside and outside of the property, peaceful music playing in relaxing lounging areas, Buddha statues that hold fresh-cut flowers every day, and herbs from the garden in the drinking water. Every freshly made meal is delicious and presented artfully. My mom enjoyed the fresh fish of the day specials, while I loved all of the vegan and vegetarian options. Although at times there were other guests on the property during our stay, we never saw or heard anyone else. There are so many tucked-away seating and lounging areas in the gardens that it makes you feel that you are the only person on the property.
All the staff members at Casa Prana work hard to make you feel comfortable and at ease without being intrusive. The communication with Juan Carlos before and during our stay was superb. He always answered any questions I had in a timely manner. He was even able to arrange last-minute massages at their wellness center (I highly recommend the energy massage). We also booked our tours through Casa Prana to the towns of Lake Atitlán and a market tour to Chichicastenango. The guides and drivers they recommended were knowledgeable, super fun, and patient while we were shopping and talking to the local artists.
We feel grateful that the owners decided to share their magnificent property with travelers from all over the world, and although we have been home for a week now, we are still dreaming of our stay at Casa Prana and look forward to returning soon.

We went to casa prana shortly after it reopened from Covid. I cannot understate the attentiveness, kindness, and helpfulness of the staff.
The views and facilities are second to none. Absolute paradise. Amazing food, rooms, pool, grounds. On site gardens used to grow vegetables for your meals! Didn’t want to leave.
You have to travel by ferry, which the hotel will organize for you. A car will pick you up to bring you to ferry dock. When you’re there, simply text the host to tell him when/where you want a meal, and everything will be organized for you.
Prices are very reasonable for all extras, including food, drinks, excursions.

Casa Prana’s location and grounds are lovely, one of the best on Lake Atitlan. The staff is friendly and helpful and the food is good.
Our trip was tainted by a lengthy power outage that spanned across 3.5 days of our 4 day stay. The outage of course limited access the full menu and amenity options and as you can image was uncomfortable and stressful. Casa Prana is meant to be an exclusive luxury resort. The owners should absolutely have invested in a generator to power the facility in case of intermittent power outages which are common in Guatemala (according to locals.) While CP offered a room upgrade and discounted rate due to the inconvenience of the outage, we would have preferred a relaxing stay with electricity and regular access to water to enjoy the full hotel experience. I hope the owners remedy this issue for the benefit of staff and future guests.
Lastly, to assist both staff and guests with understanding each other, all menus should also include Spanish translations.

Just to clarify the aspects raised by our dear guest Keya in this review. The facts: - The Hotel offered a free upgrade to the top-quality Prana Suite - The guest was entitled with a substantial discount on the services provided - Hot water for bathing was supplied - Quite exceptionally, the Hotel offered to refund an anticipated check-out. The guest decided to stay. The circumstances: We do have back-up through power generator. However, this inconvenience was incredible unlucky as our generator is for maintenance. Upgrades on the power back-up system and electric grid inside Casa Prana are currently in process as we write this. So, this lengthy unexpected outbreak was at the worst timing, however we tried the very best to give back compensation to our guests. Casa Prana made everything possible to grant a high-quality service, despite the inconvenience of lack of power supply. No guest staying in the same period presented any complaint, everyone else was quite happy with their experience. Languages used: Since the first contact to the departure, Casa Prana communicates in Spanish or English language, according to the guest’s choice. All the Service Menus and Guest Information is presented in Spanish or English. The Service Staff is native in Spanish with English as second language. Despite this negative review, we wish much happiness to Keya and Daniel and warmly welcome them again soon back in Casa Prana.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. I’ll start off with how gorgeous this place is. Waking up to gorgeous Lake atitlan and the many birds, gardens and sights is indescribable. We stayed at the Prana suite which has the most amazing balcony/view. Sauna, gym, wellness center, volleyball / ping pong table / pool table ... you name it, this place has it all!
Now let’s talk about the service. These guys are on point! We communicated via with Juan Carlos via WhatsApp to requests food, drinks and even a couple massage and they had everything ready in literally seconds.
Greg, my fiancé asked, last minute, for surprise roses /candles to surprise me and they did not disappoint. The room was adorned with candles, red roses and multiple Red flowers.
This place is definitely one of the most expensive places on Lake Atitlan but in my opinion, with every penny. Thank you to the entire staff for making us feel welcomed and pampered.

We stayed at Casa Prana for 3 nights. Lake Atitlan is absolutely beautiful and I highly recommend people to come and visit! We had a room in the new part of the hotel, on the second floor. The rooms are very nice. There is only one other room on that floor and we shared the balcony. Like others mentioned there is no A/C (which is normal here) and rooms get VERY stuffy. We thought with the avgerage high in the mid 70's it would be cool.. It is more like hot/humid. We asked for a fan, which they provided and it helped a little bit. There are sliding doors/main door to the room and they are the only realistic way of getting any ventilation, they have sheer curtains, so very few mosquitoes come in. Guests leave the doors open to get some breeze. As a previous reviewer said, the price you pay is far too high and the service, does not justify it. On our last day we packed our suitcases and emptied the safe, placing all contents in my backpack. We went to get breakfast. The guests next to us had already left as there were 2 cleaning ladies there. We came back 30 minutes later and picked up our stuff and took a water taxi. By the time we got to our next hotel, I checked my backpack and a pair of earrings (packed in their original box jewelry box and a larger gift box) were missing. I had bought them the previous week in Guatemala City. Our suitcases all had locks, except for the backpack which I had left with the suitcases. It is the first time something like this has ever happened to us. Would definitely NOT go back. The manager was aloof to say the least.. For the cost per night it would be nice to have some sense of security and not not have the need to leave the doors open all the time.

Casa prana- to say it is beautiful and unforgettable is an understatement. set In a beautiful rustic state of the art mansion, it gave us a gorgeous historical feel and a beautiful isolated romantic feel at the same time.
It is incredible, Fully equipped with all sorts of entertainment including a volleyball court, ping-pong, health and wellness studio, sauna, a big TV to watch Netflix and kick back, and lots of gorgeous places to dine and enjoy the view. The servers are professional & incredibly helpful. We ate almost everything off the menu and it was absolutely delicious, especially their famous avocado detox smoothie.
I don’t think that I can critique anything as everything exceeded our expectations. Our room was marvellous and fit for royalty. And it’s location was perfect , situated near so many beautiful Mayan villages overlooking lake atitlan’s glorious volcanoes.
I cannot wait to go again. Truly the most remarkable and romantic place I ever visited.

My husband and I have been blessed to travel all over the world, and there’s nothing that has compared to our incredible experience at Casa Prana. We truly felt like we were guests in someone’s home, and it was exactly what we needed. It’s one of the most beautiful and unique properties we’ve ever stayed at. We were a little hesitant to book at first because of the no refund policy, but rest be assured, it was worth it!
We had no issues with wi-if, hot water or electricity, if you’re wondering about that on a remote property. Everything worked great!
I loved being able to walk right off a boat onto this romantic, expansive property, which was meticulously kept. We stayed in the Atitlan Suite for four nights, which was purely a dream. So much space, gorgeous views and the most incredible bathroom we’ve ever seen.
For such a private resort, I was most impressed by the menu offerings. We stayed for four nights and never got bored with the delicious food offerings. Very authentic, affordable and delicious food!
Most importantly, the staff was incredibly wonderful to us. While most could speak some English, we were trying to practice our Spanish and everyone was patient with our broken Spanish and helped us perfect it. They were all incredibly caring and kind.
We also took advantage of village tours and the Pico del Cielo hike, and both were well worth the experience.
Thank you all for your hospitality and for such a welcoming break to the hustle and bustle we experience back home. We hope to return and have already started telling all our friends what an incredible place it is. Also, please give lots of belly rubs to sweet “Da-da.” It was a joy to get puppy love while missing our sweet pup back home.

Casa Prana is one of the most elegant hotels where I have ever stayed. Lake Atitlan is surrounded by volcanoes and the views are superb. There are only 8 suites and for two nights we were the only guests here. It was like having our own mansion with excellent and discreet staff. Landscaping is magnificent with fountains, walls, organic farm, 204 different plants. The main building is like living in the Isabella Stewart Gardiner Museum. There is a yoga studio with views of the volcanoes and lake. A pool, sauna, gardens, gym are all first class. Meals are excellent and can be served at patio outside our room, under the pergola, in the main house dining room or in a secret garden room with fountain. Worth every penny

This was our first trip together as a couple and we were brought to Guatemala to stay at a friend's place in Antigua. While primarily staying in Antigua we decided to take 3 nights at Lake Atitlan as we heard great things. First off, the Lake did not disappoint, definitely go, and there are lots of options for fairly affordable places. We decided to splurge a bit coming from the states as Casa Prana was a 5-star hotel at a price for a typical nicer hotel in America. O wow did it not disappoint, so much so that we extended our stay by several nights and were blown away by the attention to detail throughout the resort. Fantastic food, exceptional service, great pool and gym, the GROUNDS THOUGH, one of the most lush, unique flora that is exquisitely maintained, I mean seriously, just wow, one of the best vacations of our life. Muchas gracias Casa Prana! Can't wait to come back. <3
