About a 5 min walk to the "main strip" and 10 min to beach. Clean and comfortable rooms; clean, shared kitchen and refrigerator; friendly owners; quiet. Nice hammocks and lounge spots outside the room. Had laundry service (fee). Only thing missing was a view of the water but we were only in our room to rest so would not have...

This is a very nice place to stay. The owners can arrange all kind of tours for you. You can cook but the kitchen could use some fresh towels now and then... You can relax in the hammucks and the comfy chairs at the cabinas. The rooms are excellent. I would give a 4,5 out of 5 if I could.

We did not stay in the cabinas so I cannot say nothing about the rooms and that is why I am rating it very good, not excellent. However when we arrived to Drake Bay from San Jose, we did not have a booking and we could not find any room available. When we arrived to this hostel and were not...

We (a young couple) stayed three nights in a big room (one double bed and one bunk bed) with private bathroom. Everything was really clean and the hosts we´re friendly and helpful. We can definitively recommend to stay there. It´s a little bit further from the beach (maybe 5-10 minutes walk).

Cabicas Pura Vida are a great place to stay, while being in the Corcovado region. The rooms are clean and cozy, and the rest of the property is a pleasant place to relax. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. Both Steven and Deya know the plant and animal life in the surrounding. It is possible to see amazing sights...

Thank you very much for your kind words, it was a pleasure to attend the tours and organizing them. Since October 2015 Steven and I say goodbye to Cabinas Pura Vida to continue undertaking personal projects that allow us to develop our career as a biologist and naturalist guide, in order to offer our visitors a wonderful experience in nature...

We felt very comfortable here, cabinas were clean, hosts were very accommodating and helpful. Value for the cost was superb! Restaurant on premise was best food in Coast Rica for us. Pura Vera! We would stay there again.

Cabinas Pura Vida is an exellent stay to explore the Corcovado region. The rooms are very clean and nice. You have your own little terrace with a hammock! While laying in the hammock the hummingbirds came to say hello, was amazing! We also had the breakfast there which was very good! If you need a good guy ask for Steven...

A great place to stay over when you want to visit Corcovado. The cabinas are comfortable and very clean. The food in the restaurant is also very nice, just as the service is. I would definitely recommend this place. Btw. If you want a guide. Ask for Steven. He is your man with super knowledge. We had a great time...

I recently used these cabins as a staging place to plan and execute my exploratory travels further south onto the peninsula. Rooms are clean and include multiple powerful fans (this is key if no a/c in places like Corcovado-- at least for big guys like me) which were more than enough to keep the humidity/heat at bay. Our room had...

I discovered Cabinas Pura Vida on GoogleEarth while looking for an affordable way to access Corcovado National Park. My wife and I were traveling with another couple and I was a little nervous that Drake Bay, a town without an all-weather road, might be a little outside their comfort zone. Fortunately my e-mail and telephone inquiries all received prompt and...

“No wash sinks, so be prepared to use shower to hand wash adventure clothes and other gear. The one aspect I did have an issue with is breakfast. It was coffee, two pieces of fruit and plain (small) white toast with option to spread jam or better. Pretty bleak offerings and the service starts at 7:30 AM which is waaayyy too late for adventure travelers who usually wish to set off early before sun gets too hot. The panaderia is just down the road in the center of town and there you can buy bread and drink coffee and generally hang with interesting people. He takes credit card so that's nice although rate goes up. If you plan on having dinner there, my experience in small restaurants of this nature the quality of experience may be excellent but slow so...if you are pressed or don't have much patience, order half hour prior to sitting down at tables.”
