We loved the place! A real home away from home - lovely people, awesome breakfast (Helen is a very good cook and cooks whatever you want!), very beautiful old goan house in best condition, great garden with pool and wonderful rooms, best matress in India :)! We loved this place from the word go - right from it's unassuming location off the CHOGM road, close enough but a comfortable distance away from the tourist hotspots of Candolim, Baga etc. The place is beautiful - with books and bric-a-brac artfully strewn all over the Portuguese villa, 3 lovely dogs, a cosy garden and a welcoming pool that lights up at night, Helene and Derrick have taken care to ensure guests feel quite at home here! We loved it here, and will recommend it to anyone looking for a special homestay experience! And my favorite - the wonderful medley of classical, jazz and funk music that Derrick keeps going throughout the day! Oops - one more thing - HELENE'S THE BEST OMELETTE MAKER EVER :-)

Easily our most enjoyable visit to Goa, The villa is beautiful, very tastefully done and feels like a home away from home. The Malabar room was very comfortable and spacious, our kids loved the lennox room, enjoyed being in the pool, the dogs and the cat kept them more than busy. Helene spoiled us silly with the lavish and sumptuous spread at breakfast, the fruit salad, freshly baked bread, lemon curd, hummus, home made jams,etc topped with some great conversations made it a very enjoyable experience. Helene and Derek made it extra special with their inputs on which restaurants and bars to visit and we ended up having truely amazing food and time well spent at some great family run restaurants. We had a lovely time at the secret garden! It wasn't just the place that was so amazing, but the hosts who were so warm and friendly. Helene and Derek were like family away from home taking care of our needs and helping us discover Goa afresh ! Lovely experience ! Definitely recommended

What a lovely time we had at the secret garden! Immaculately kept house with every detail taken care of.The bed was super comfy and the breakfast was delicious and generous and the poolside was so welcoming.But most of all the hosts were so warm and attentive,helpful and caring.Their recommendations for places to visit and where to eat were spot on.All in all a truly memorable holiday and can't wait to go back!

This was our second visit to Goa. TSG was a perfect stay for us. The place is beautiful and charming. It is a Portugese style BnB, with high airy ceilings, a large beautiful garden with fruit laden Sapota trees, swaying coconut trees, and a very large pool . The 3 canines, Merlot, Diver and Luna are very friendly. Luna is my favourite, I loved the way she used to come running to us when we used to be back in evening, also she saved me from the stray ones one noon. My hero! :P Kismet is a very peace loving cat, mostly napping on couch. I stayed in Malabar room ,which has direct access to the garden, with a small private patio too. Wonderful overall experience. Helene is a lovely host, with whom you can chat like there's no tomorrow. We were well taken care off & the place is maintained impeccably. The Secret Garden is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed in. The property is beautiful and the host, Helene Menezes is amongst the nicest people you'll ever meet. She personally makes breakfast for you; ask her for her lip smacking omelette souffle. This is my new home in Goa.

I have been to Goa 10-12 times, but this was hands on my most memorable trip. I was visiting Goa with my boyfriend who had never visited India, and we were looking for something local and private, yet comfortable. Helen: She was an absolutely wonderful host and went above and beyond to make us comfortable - from the minute we arrived, to the minute we left. She has lived in Goa for 20 years, and gave us the local's take. Her list of recommended restaurants and spots to hang out never failed us. If you'd like to come to Goa with zero plans, you can trust Helene to recommend an itinerary that will satisfy your needs. Went with friends. Felt totally at home. Lovely and lavish breakfast served. Treated with soooo much warmth. The personalised swimming pool was an icing on the cake. The rooms are big and well equipped. We were taken care of totally.
