I went with my husband on a surfing trip not knowing what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. Our FALE was right on the beach and had a comfortable bed with mosquito nets, a ceiling fan and some shelving to store things. The bathroom was attached at the back and I thought that not having any hot water would...

We stayed at Aganoa Lodge with 3 children aged 15-20. It was so relaxing and everyone enjoyed it. The location, food, activities and staff were amazing. It is located in an idyllic tropical setting with white sand, beautiful reef and great surf for all levels of ability. It is a family run resort which makes it all the more special....

The good -food was healthy and good. Lots of fish - kitchen and bar staff - surf guide Lee - snorkelling out front The Bad - none of our group like the wave at Aganoa. It's a tough spot to read the wave and it's heavy. Even the guys with 25 years or the younger eager heavy wave surfers didn't...

I don't normally review the places I stay, but I had to rave about this place! It is pure paradise in every way: the white sand beaches, crystal clear ocean, breathtaking views, and perfect waves for surfing (even being a bit rusty). The chef was amazing as well - and all the meals were fresh and healthy. Very friendly staff...

Don't go here expecting a surf trip, it's a very fickle and heavy wave location. Also this is 3 star beach resort and service at 6 star prices. Beautiful spot but sadly the resort operators and promoters here don't deliver what they promise. I could go on and on with examples, the feedback I provided to them and their pathetic...

From the moment we stepped out of customs in Samoa we were well looked after. Tom and Andy greeted us and from there on the staff from Aganoa took care of everything. True to their promise, the guys were in the water surfing 30mins after arriving at the lodge. We travelled as a family and had our two girls with...

We went here for surfing and whilst the surf was too big most days out front for myself we had a great time, visiting other breaks, blowholes, villages and snorkelling. Great spot and great people. The group dinners were great to meet people, and the Samoans were fantastic with our kids. The surf guides

We spent half of our honeymoon here at Aganoa, and it was great for the off-the-beaten-track stay. The resort has 8 fales (bungalows) with varying degrees of ocean views and a main lodge for eating. The main lodge looks straight out over the reef and surf break and a great happy hour cocktail list (which went for 2 hours during...

We stayed at Aganoa for a week & had the best time. The lodge is private, only guests staying there can access the lodge & surf break area so you feel like you have your own piece of heaven. The view from our fale was the best view I've had, straight out to the surf break from our bed. Easiest...

We were warmly welcomed with another couple who were also staying for 2 weeks. Our greeting consisted of Coconut water, leis and a dance performed by some of the workers there. Normally we like our comforts such as air con, tv, safes, lockable rooms etc, but to be honest it was really nice not having these things. I was a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
There is still a place that time forgot. Where the crowds haven't yet reached, where the guidebooks haven't ruined, where local children splash and play in a pristine lagoon lapping at golden sands just inside of an empty, funneling right-hander. On the lesser-known island of Savai'i, a short ferry ride from Upolu in the Independent State of Samoa (formerly Western Samoa), a road leads to a lost corner of the earth called Aganoa Beach (roughly translated: The Place Where No One Lives). Here, at Aganoa, lies a surfer's - and non-surfer's - paradise. A consistent, world-class reef break peels into a channel just 50 yards in front of a restaurant perched at the sea. A gentle, idyllic lagoon lined with a picture-perfect beach hugs the verdant, manicured grounds in seemingly endless and fragrant bloom. Eight airy, newly-renovated and self-contained fales (bungalows) doze near the sea. While primarily Aganoa caters to surfers (only 8 at a time) seeking its guaranteed uncrowded waves, Aganoa - like Savai'i itself - is also the perfect place for the family. With an array of activities from kayaking, fishing, snorkeling and more, both on-site and island-wide, Aganoa is a stress-free destination without the exorbitant price tag that most destinations of this caliber attach. Couple that with Samoa's beautiful Polynesian culture and people - and you may never want to return home... With empty waves just outside your fale, in this private piece of Eden surrounding your companion or family, it's not hard to see how - thankfully - time forgot about Aganoa. And moreover, how easy it is to forget about time. ... more   less
