From the food to the setting, this is one of my favorite places on earth. They even let me play with the border collies. Our group hiked, rode horseback and dined on fabulous meals. I loved the fireplace in the lobby

Overall our experience was excellent. The rooms were underwhelming but the lounge and restaurant area were fantastic. The food and service experience was excellent. The staff always helpful. The barman maitre de and waiter combined (sorry forgot his name by now) was very good, always ready to help and an upbeat person. The meals were first class and the wine...

Beautiful rooms with plenty of space to relax in. A great lobby area with a fireplace going all the time. Wonderful staff & delicious food cooked with fresh food from the garden. Amazing views if you're willing to make the trip go up to the Blue Lagoon!

My husband & I stayed for 6 nights - we should have stayed longer! - and thoroughly enjoyed every facet of the Helsingfors experience. The serenity of the place is magical and soul-cleansing but the heart & soul of Helsingfors is its staff. Every single one of the staff could not have been more attentive and made sure our stay...

We stayed for two nights and had a fabulous time. We did the trek to the windy point and the full day of horseback riding to the blue lagoon. This was the highlight of our stay. The guides, Christian and Gonzalo are fabulous and very patient. The food was to die for and we enjoyed sitting in front of the...

This hosteria has only 9 rooms and is great for the trekiking type. They have 2 guides, 2 dining room staff, one receptionist, a maid and wonderful chefs. There are only 3 things to do at Helsingfors- trek with their guide or solo, horseback ride with their guide and eat. There are no water sports (even though their web site...

What a magical 3 days we had here. First night we were the only guests and were treated fabulous well. Though the ambiance might have been different if the lodge had been booked out to a large group. Our first day we did the 24km hike to Laguna Del Moro which was superb. It was hard going and not for...

Of a nearly three week hiking trip, and changing hotels every day or two, Helsingsfors emerges at the top of my list for accommodations, food, and setting. How do they do it in the middle of nowhere? Luxurious bedding, the best food of all the meals I had (BBQ lamb and chicken, salad, grilled vegetables, Malbec and the next night...

Great food, actually some of the best we had on our trip. First rate service. Good cocktails. Took the horses up the hill one day and then hiked to the top. Magical. The mountain was shrouded in mist the day we were up there. It was still beautiful, but we want to see the glacier and so have a good...

If you are traveling to Patagonia and want to be off the beaten path in a gorgeous location far from civilization but in a very civilized hotel, this is the place. It's 91 km for a dirt road but on the drive we saw rheas, guanacos, eagles, condors, and even a grey fox. Once you reach Helsingfors you still have...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
During the early 20th century, a Finnish adventurer, Alfred Ranström, settled at the foot of the Andes Mountains, on the SW shores of Lago Viedma. As a memory of his fatherland, he named his estancia after his country's capital city: Helsingfors (Helsinki in Swedish). Here he lived with his wife, Marie Lisau and their children, lightening up this wonderful spot, never imagining that they would be the main characters in one of Patagonia's most touching stories. During the 60's, a traditional family from the province of Santa Cruz bought this beautiful land, and since 1995 they have been receiving visitors from all over the world who wish to discover Patagonia through a unique and exclusive experience such as we offer at Helsingfors. The lodge is surrounded by a majestic natural landscape, protected by lush woods which give way to a panoramic view of the lake, Mount Fitz Roy and the Andes Mountains. It has 9 rooms with a private bathroom, decorated and designed with an exquisite taste, combining colors and textures that blend in with the environment. ... more   less
