Check-in was OK, staff could be more friendly (smiling should not be optional) but they hardly spoke any English. This is unforgivable in a resort that has one main attraction (glaciers) but attracts people from all over the world. We had to carry our luggage upstairs ourselves. The hotel and our room are best characterized by the words “basic, simple,...

There are so many hotels & hostels to choose from in El Calafate! We selected Hosteria San Julian based on availability over Xmas & New Year. They charged us a reasonable price given it was high season. It's about a 10 minute walk out of town, up the hill, but it's not a difficult walk & it's pleasant enough &...

Stayed 3 nights. The hotel is located on a hill, 10 minutes away from downtonw. The lack of elevator was not a problem for me but could be for old people or those carryng heavy luggage. The room was clean. Good size. No bathtub but. Hair drier available. Breakfast good: coffee, tee, juice, yogurt, cereals, butter, jam and some tiny...

Stayed here for 4 nights. Visited at the end of high season. Two people in a triple room. We were comfortable but it may be tight for three people. The bathroom was big but with plenty of unused dead space. No shelves, cabinets or anything to place your personal items on. The room and bathroom were clean but the shower...

This hosteria does not have anything special to stay there. It is located in Aeropuerto Viejo Neighbourhood. It is not precisely very central. You need a taxi when returning at night. There is no help in case of carrying heavy luggage. Many rooms are upstairs. We had to walk 200 meters in a very windy night to foot the bill...

I spent 3 days and 2 nights at this pretty little inn. As others have noted it is off on a gravel road, but a short walk into town. The staff was very nice, however not as knowledgeable as I had hoped, and I ended up losing some time when I followed their recommendations for excursions that were not correct....

A little outside the center of El Calafate, a little uphill on a groval road we found this nice hosteria. Helpfull staff, nice room.

After the shock of the distance from the airport, the hotel was a welcome sight. When the driver turned off on to gravel roads, we were a little worried, but the hotel was great. The gravel roads needn't have worried us it appears to be the norm in El Calafate. We were given a large room on the corner which...

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was small but cute, warm and cozy. Breakfast was nothing special, but generally, in terms of food, unless you're eating lamb or steak, the pickin's are slim this far south. The hotel in on quiet, out of the way street, and although there are no spectacular views, the price was unbeatable.

The hosteria is out of town on the hill overlooking the main town, but in a part of ever-expanding town where the paved roads haven't quite reached but no detriment to the hostel and don't let that deter you if you don't mind a walk - it however may be off-putting for some when you might have to walk the...
