Solares del Sur offers very nice, well equipped and clean accommodation at very good value for money. It has a lovely view of the lake, a nice little garden and the tables may be taken outside to have lunch or dinner 'al fresco'. Sergio is a fantastic host, very resourceful, with plenty of humour and capable of preparing some of the best pizzas we've ever had. We were six who had just returned from doing the 8 day trek around Cerro Fitz Roy and Torre in the Patagonian Southern Ice Cap. On our return we faced the coronavirus emergency, and needed to cut short our stay and get air tickets back to Buenos Aires at the earliest. It was impossible to arrange for them through the Internet, so Sergio intervened and got us the tickets right on time, and he also made sure the checkpoints would not stop us from getting to the airport. Thanks to him we could leave before all domestic forms of transport were suspended. It has to be said that many tourists were left behind in four and five star hotels. We cannot express enough thanks to him for arranging our departure and ensuring we could eat at his place, some very simple but exquisite dishes (pizzas and Wienerschnizels were also very much appreciated). He went well beyond anything we could expect from someone running a hotel. So, we highly recommend staying at Sergio's place and will always remain grateful to him for his help, good nature and sense of humour. Thanks, Sergio!

Very practical, nicely decorated (lots of wood, colors, local style) and very well-equipped facility. Very nice service. The facility is pet-friendly. The owners' cute cats were walking around the garden and looking into our house. It was cool!
The bed mattresses and pillows were too hard and uncomfortable for us, but this is a subjective impression.
Wifi practically did not work in the rooms despite a strong signal. The only place where you could use the Internet was the reception area with 2 chairs forthe guests. This is a very big minus of this place.

This property is 2 or 3 kms away from shops and restaurants in El Calafate so not convenient without a car or other transportation. We had a small suite, patio in front, kitchen on the main floor, bedroom upstairs not suitable if you have mobility problems. Our rate included breakfast, left in the unit the night before because we had an early departure. There is a small restaurant which we didn’t have time to try.

What an absolute pleasure to stay at Solares del sud. Bith Abril and Pedro were excellent hosts, helping with anything from arranging airport transfers to bus bookings and even salt and pepper when needed. The hotel is perfectly situated overlooking Lake Argentina. Highly reccomended.
Our cottage was cosy, warm and comfortable with all the necessary amenities.

We were with my wife in this place from 3/18 to 3/23/2024. I attach 3 photos. It really was a pretty bad experience. In the cabin that was assigned to us, from the 1st night we noticed an intense smell of sewer. On the 3rd day in the morning the entire cabin was completely flooded (water was gushing from the bathroom grate), forcing us to lift our belongings to try to save what we could. Obviously the maintenance and unclogging of pipes in the place is deplorable. They did not take care of the problem and the owner refused to even offer compensation for the disruption and damaged belongings. The only thing I can highlight is the good service of the employee (Colombian) who is in charge of the place.
Do not go !! Surely they will find other places, at least acceptable, for the same money.

Traveling from Canada to enjoy Patagonia Solares del Sur was a great find. Spacious and comfortable with a nice view of the lake from the balcony. Staff was friendly and helpful and breakfast arrived in our suite to have at our convenience. I would definitely recommend this Bed and Breakfast.

The place is very nice, surrounded by trees and plants. You feel in touch with nature. The cabins a luxury. Super equipped with everything. And well heated for Patagonian winters.
