Stayed here 1 1/2 year ago. For all the hostels we stayed at in Argentina this has made the best impression. Really helpful personal when arranging trip and thinking of thing to do. Family owned and run. Really good atmosphere where you felt welcome.

i doubt that they would close as this is a family business and owners are locals. there are just two people taking care of the mail, though, so it might take some time for them to answer. i would not exclude the possibility of them taking a short break as this is off season for calafate (heavy snow, limited options for visits to the glacier, ...)
