We had a deeply unpleasant encounter with a La Ernestina guide, which I feel others should be made aware of. Having been advised in the tourist office in Puerto Piramide that there were penguins just west of Punta Norte, my girlfriend and I parked our car at the side of the road just west of Punta Norte and walked along...

There is a real sense at La Ernestina that something of great importance will take place soon and this serious atmosphere is also combined with a sense of fun and adventure. Just with Oscar Wilde, you will feel a mixture of emotions, surprise and suspense, but never regret at what you are experiencing. NEWBIE'S EXPERIENCE: Visiting La Ernestina and discovering...

After reading reviews, I was pleasantly surprised with our room. It was large. Plenty of wall plugs, something I find a problem in big city hotels. Comfortable beds. Nice shower. Staff and Juan were very helpful. Meals include all beverages. Each day there is a lunch box with a sandwich and you pack in your other stuff such as fruit,...

We've stayed at La Ernestina for 2 nights and 2 days. Clean and food was good enough, but we found it too expensive considering that the guide just brought us close to the animal without explaining anything about what we were looking. Just made us take a sit close to animals and that was all!!!!He also seemed to be annoyed...

If you want to see orcas, penguins and the aquatic wildlife (i.e., elephant seals and sea lions) very up close and personal, this is the place to do it despite the high prices. Certainly worth at least one night for a special trip to Valdes (our second trip - the first was just a day trip). We were the only...

At the end of a 70km dirt road (driving advice to follow), La Ernestina is one of the most relaxing places I have visited. No mobile phones, no BlackBerry signal, no internet, no electricity after 22:00. We were met on arrival at about 20:00 by Juan, the owner's son, and the motherless lamb that thinks it is a cat. The...

This place can be summarized in one sentence: go there and stay there at least two nights for the wildlife experience but be prepared. This place is in the middle of nowhere: no cellphone network coverage, no Internet, limited water supply, electricity when the generator runs (usually a couple of hours in the evening), no gas station, etc. The rooms...

Excellent wildlife experience on Peninsula Valdes... the excursions to see the seals/sea lions are interesting and something that you are not able to do alone. The owner will take you right to the beach and you sit within meters of the animals. This area is also known for Orcas although we didn't see any. Great place to stay if you...
