The Colonial Hotel, a classic in San Nicolás, has a main building and an annex about 30 meters from the first. It has a large park with a large pool and a smaller one with heated water. There are a large number of lounge chairs available, which is why despite being full during our three-night stay, there was never a problem finding a free one.

It is located about 20 minutes by car from the main square (no traffic on long weekends), which is why a vehicle is necessary. Due to the distance and the route, a walk is not recommended.

We stayed in a Senior Double Suite on the first floor of the annex building. In that same building is the spa, which can be accessed with payment for the service. This annex had the particularity during our stay of very high weather, that the upper floor had an air conditioning problem, being really very hot. Since our room had air conditioning, we had to keep it on permanently because it would have been impossible to stay there.

The room was modern (I understand that this is not the case in the main building), with a flat TV, table with a chair, closet and a small closed balcony with a side view that was not good. This room does not have a refrigerator. The bathroom was very spacious and comfortable with a shower, without a bathtub and we had amenities.

A highlight is the buffet breakfast served in a large dining room, a section of it with views of the park. This breakfast is truly complete, with several pastry and bakery options, various juices, fruits, ham, cheese, salami, eggs, sausages, coffee and teas, etc. We were positively struck by the unusual size of the tables, really large and comfortable.

It has a cafeteria and restaurant service but we did not use it.

The property has free parking.

The negative was the service when paying for the reservation, extremely inflexible since they requested sensitive credit card information by email, which is not convenient. There was no way to find a solution which is why I had to take the risk.

It is an excellent option in San Nicolás.

Despite some unfavorable comments, we attended and were really pleasantly surprised, which is why, I insist, that opinions are based on specific experiences and expectations.
Our experience was very good
Large park with two pools, one large main pool, which has a bar service, chairs, lounge chairs, and a second smaller heated pool near the main pool.
The rooms in case the Std, were very spacious as was the bathroom. In this area the only thing they should improve is:
to. The lack of a refrigerator.
b. One detail, the shower and the bathtub are separate, leaving the shower very very small.

The attention of the staff was very correct and the ladies at the restaurant were very empathetic and attentive.
The breakfast, criticized by many, was impeccable, a large assortment of fruits, pastries, juices, coffee, teas, milk, etc.

The colonial-type building (1957) restored in 2000, very nice. There are some details that should not be allowed to deteriorate, such as taking care of paint, tiles and blinds (in the annex) that should prevent them from deteriorating to maintain the general condition.

The looby is very spacious and well-kept.
The bar is very well placed, but it would seem a bit expensive.
The restaurant, with very abundant dishes and of very good quality and quality, also the place is very pleasant. The prices may be a little high, but the location and the attention make up for it.

Very good experience

My partner and I stayed for four days and the truth is that everything was excellent. Quick check in and check out, large and comfortable rooms, it even had a balcony. The varied and rich breakfast. Since we went in October, the seasonal pool was closed but we used the Roman bath, which is a hot water pool that was great and since it was very hot one day, they lowered the temperature so we could continue using it. The “Los Nogales” Restaurant was also good, with rational prices (keep in mind that it is closed on Sundays) and the same with the lobby bar.
The weakest point was the Spa, for which we paid separately, we saw it was deteriorated and quite small, but we rescued the massages which were very good. On the other hand, it is far from the city center but on an avenue that can be reached in 15 minutes by car.
In summary, we had a very pleasant stay, we will return without a doubt and we recommend it

They are not up to what one pays.
When no one goes, don't start crying, today with the crisis it helps you, tomorrow I don't know.
Stop your tricks on your website of only offering the most expensive, make your list price big and if that price is discounted.
They charge in advance and make it clear that there are no refunds, so if their service was poor I am not entitled to refunds???
If you are used to being ignored then go easy.

Very good structure and good services (spa, bar, breakfast). The rooms are spacious and everything in general has excellent maintenance even though it is a building from the '50s; For different reasons, it seemed to me that I felt like I was in another era, a beautiful feeling.
The only thing to note is the restaurant prices, which are relatively high since there are also good options in the city and at reasonable prices.
I was looking forward to returning!

No room (I have stayed several times) has a mirror large enough to see your entire body. Especially essential for women.
Lack of a simple elevator (today they are hydraulic and simple). They have had 70 years to do it!
A hotel that claims to be high class cannot not have a valet for suitcases.
There are times when none of the staff can be found. It looks more like a convent than a hotel.
Restaurant: limited menu of offers, and very low quality. We ordered something as simple as flan for dessert, but there were no EGGS to make them!
The only acceptable thing; breakfast.

Self-perceived 4 stars
Hotel with a lot of lack of maintenance. The only highlight is the lobby bar and restaurant. Inattentive reception staff, asked what could be done in the city and did not know. Zero information. Same about hotel activities. They did not report or offer. Very basic room, bathroom without bathtub, broken and rusty grid, a danger. None of the candles worked, one without the lamp and the other broken. Breakfast of dubious quality, cold tea water, scrambled egg ice cream. Nothing that happens in a true 4-star. The restaurant excellent serviced and very good food. Go eat BUT DON'T STAY THERE

We were there from 7 p.m. on 10/19 until 11 a.m. on Friday 10/20. Enough time to enjoy the excellent attention of the staff, the excellent sobriety of the room, an excellent breakfast in the beautiful dining room overlooking the park. Touring the park we saw that it needs a little maintenance, but we were lucky enough to meet Lucio, an excellent human being who told us a little history in the 23 years he has been working. He was surprised when we told him that we had known the hotel since 1962. Since 1963 we have been in Buenos Aires but always wanting to see it again, and now the opportunity arose. And yes, we recommend it to our friends.

The perfect establishment but sleeping on expired mattresses was torture both us and our friends who were in another room. A 4 star hotel should be more careful as one will rest and relax. Send a complaint to the hotel and the response was "Thank you so much for helping us grow" seems totally inadequate😡

I had a very bad time with the family members who accompanied me at check-in due to the surprisingly disrespectful treatment we received from the hotel manager (that's how he identified himself). Unfortunately I can no longer recommend this hotel - not until this manager continues to serve guests. The rest of the staff, the stay, the room, etc. without problems.
