From start to finish all the staff at this hotel were fabulous. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is kept pristine with a fabulous welcoming atmosphere. Breakfast in the -1 basement (which doubles up as an amazing jazz club in the evening) is incredible with an assortment of hot & cold delights to set you up for the day. Jazz night btw - book at reception for £5 approx per person. Food & drink extra but you can choose those once you’re seated. It’s cool & quirky and you’ll get up close and personal with the brilliant artists. A great way to end an evening before a night cap in the hotel bar. Again with great staff, good wine and amazing memorabilia. You can check out Maradona’s shirt in the glass case if you’re a footy fan. Roof top dip pool and chill area was a nice relax & for those wanting a quick cardio work out … a little gym area. Location wise … perfect. This hotel is 10 minutes walk from the Recoleta Cemetery & you can wander around the busy Recoleta with its busy bars and restaurants and there also a great Saturday street market. Excursions are readily available at the desk & prices are comparable to any excursion company in BA so just tell them what you fancy doing and they’ll arrange it. Money exchange for the blue dollar is opposite and there an array of shops & restaurants nearby.

Hotel's Favourite
After a long, tiring, overnight 13 hour flight we were greeted by 2 lovely people at reception, Mara and Alejandro. Although it was only 10am in the morning, and as they had our room ready, they allowed us to check in. It was very kind of them to do so and we were so very grateful for that and would not have expected them to do this at all, it allowed us to have a shower and a little rest so we could start to explore the city. The hotel also organised our pick up from the airport as we were a little worried about the taxis, scams etc we had heard of. This was excellent and although dearer than getting a taxi at the airport, our driver was waiting for us, smartly dressed, the car was a decent car, clean and comfortable, had air conditioning and our cases went in the boot easily. The journey took about an hour as we hit rush hour traffic but we felt very safe with the driver as it was a little manic on the roads. In comparison, we took a taxi one day to take us back to the hotel, it was battered and old, not very clean inside, no air conditioning on a hot day, no seat belts and a tiny boot so I very much doubt our cases would have gone in. Also, we were on a cruise and the amount of people who said they had booked pick ups at the airport with their travel agents only to find there was no one there to meet them. So worth every penny and we were able to settle the bill for this at the end of our stay with the hotel. Lovely hotel, we were in room 75, very clean, air conditioning, wood floors, nice bathroom and good size of room for our 3 night stay. All rooms are right next to the lift which we were a bit worried about but did not hear a thing, the only noise we heard was from one inconsiderate guest. Although they say the water is safe to drink in BA the hotel offered a free bottles of water in the room and the small mini fridge was stacked with water for $4 dollars each. We just bought some large bottles of water from the local shop around the corner for about $2, we were only here for a few days so better to be safe than sorry. Bed was firm but comfortable with lovely cotton sheets and nice pillows, slept really well every nigh. Breakfast was very relaxing and went on to 11am. One morning there was a young girl playing the piano which was very nice, but this did not happen every day. Everything was replenished on the buffet throughout service and there was a chef making omelettes to order, had everything you could want for breakfast and very good. If you did not want to eat breakfast here there was a lovely coffee shop and bakery just up the road called the Pain Quotidienne which made the most wonderful lattes, also great for lunch, open until 8pm in the evening. The area of the hotel felt very safe, located near the cemetery in Recoleta, close to some great eating places so if you are worried about walking around at night this is ideal, the hotel also offers bar food in the evening if you did not want to venture out. Fervor was a nice upmarket restaurant to eat fish and steak, would suggest you book a table, either just pop in or ask them to do this for you at hotel reception, by 8pm on a weekday night they were full and people were waiting quite a while for a table. Prices were good (especially for the brits and Americans), just get your head around the price conversion into your own currency, so many “0”s!!! They have a huge wine list starting at say 2,000 and up to 89,000!! Bear in mind, for a good Argentinian Malbec the locals say to make sure it is in a bottle and costs more than 1,000!!! We paid around 4,000 for a lovely bottle of wine which is about £11! (In Feb 2023). El Sanjuanino is next door to Fervor and is more of a locals place offering great Empenadas and again a nice wine list and friendly service. There is also a handy money exchange “Cambio” opposite the hotel, looked like a mini bank, nothing “dodgy”. We could not buy Argentinian money at home and found out the best way was to buy dollars and then change these to pesos. Really would not recommend paying in dollars as they give you a terrible, terrible rate for this. The cambio will even change just a $20 note as you do not want to be left with any pesos when you leave. A lot of places do take credit card but still much safer and a better rate to change the dollars. We were a little worried about BA, it was our first time here and we had read a lot of negatives, about scams, petty thefts etc. We found everyone to be very friendly and the majority of the people spoke English. Like any city in the world, don’t flash the cash! don’t expect to wear an expensive watch or jewellery and expect not to be at any risk of it being stolen. People need to take some responsibility for themselves and not to tar a country by the small amount of bad people it has, these people are in all countries. Absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel, lovely staff, can not recommend enough.

We loved this beautiful, historic, boutique hotel! The ambience and history (Eva Duarte lived in an apartment in the building before she married Juan Peron) make it very special. The front desk staff were very patient and helpful with directions. The neighborhood is lovely. It is close to Recoleta Cemetery and Recoleta Mall (we walked there to buy shorts for my husband who had forgotten to pack his :-)) as well as a park where we shopped at a craft fair on Saturday morning before we left for our cruise. There is a store on the corner where we purchased wine to take with us, and the Fervor Restaurant is next door (we had a wonderful steak dinner there). The hotel itself has a bar that serves light fare in the lobby. A restaurant/nightclub on the lower level is the place for breakfast (which is great) and also an active club -- we had a light dinner there and listened to a lovely jazz artist on our 2nd night. I should also mention that our room was quiet, comfortable and elegant. I hated to leave to go on the cruise!!

Pros- 1. Located in a beautiful part of Buenos Aires, close to Cemetery. 2. Restaurants and bars in abundance close by 3. Excellent breakfast with Piano player regularly playing. 4. Good sized rooms. 5. Friendly staff. Cons- 1. small bathrooms with complex shower taps(need signs- hot/cold) 2. Tedious and very slow check-in process. 3. No English TV channels among 100+ Spanish channels. Overall- Great choice for first timers in Buenos Aires.

We spent 3 days at this well located hotel in La Recoleta, an area that was convenient for us as we were departing on a cruise ship after our stay. We were warmly greeted upon arrival, after a car transfer from the airport arranged by the hotel. The transfer charge was dealt with at checkout. As we arrived much earlier than check in time, our luggage was stored until later in the day. Allan, who was usually at the front door was very helpful in taking our luggage up to our room and also when leaving, as he looked after taking our belongings out to the taxi. Mara and others at the front desk was also very helpful as they booked a City Tour, a Gaucho tour and a Tango dinner show for us. Our room was ample in size, convenient to the elevator, as are other rooms in the building. The washroom was well appointed, and the breakfast provided was very good. Lots of selection and an omelette station. Also, the Recoleta Cemetery is within walking distance. We certainly recommend this hotel.

A historic boutique hotel in a lovely safe area. I stayed twice. Neither of my rooms had any views and were somewhat dark. The rooms were roomy and pleasant if somewhat faded. The hotel is showing its age and could do with a refresh. the rooms do not have any coffee making equipment. I was given a coupon for a welcome drink and asked for a glass of wine but was told could only have a gin and tonic but no wine! Breakfast is in a basement area and was good. Everything worked fine in the room

We recently stayed at this great hotel in Recoleta and enjoyed the accommodation, staff and location. The old world accommodation was clean, cozy and comfortable with updates in the bathrooms and the rooms. The staff was very accommodating Mara at the front desk and Andres getting us settled in with our bags staff and Guillermo, Isaac and the ladies in the restaurant and bar. The location was in a beautiful part of the city with beautiful streets under a canopy of old shade trees keeping everything cool under them from the warm summer sun. This was our first trip to Buenos Aires but not our last and we will certainly return back to this hotel. Sincerely, Bruce Novak

This hotel is truly a huge disppointment, all the way. On their site they pretend to be a 5 stars which is miles from the truth as it is a 3 stars maximum. The only positive thing about it is its location. Nothing else. Rooms are extremely old, furniture the same and the aircon machine is as old as the rest, extremely noisy and at full speed tor 2 hours after requesting 18°celsius, we have 25°! Tiny window overlooking a courtyard gave very little light even at noon on a sunny summer day, and we were on one of the upper floors. So lamps on all the time. Obviously the bathroom is a old as the rest with a ridiculously small wash basin: mind you the bathroom itself is so small that no way 2 people can use it at the same time. Amenities are not even replenished. The most shocking are the extras, and this starts with the dinking water: you are entitled to one bottle of 0.5 liter per stay, yes per stay not per day. And any extra half bottle will be charged in US dollars at the totally shocking price of USD4 which in Buenos Aires is the price you pay for a 15km Uber ride in Comfort class... Laundry for a shirt is USD 7. Breakfast is average, no better no worse. I confirm one of the previous contributors in saying management never shows up which is always the case in poorly managed hotels and I do have a large experience with well over 6000 nights in hotels in my life.

Dear HGBParis. Indeed, you’re right. We are an urban small century hotel established in an old french building. Located into a very historical environament. Our costumers (some of them, heads of state, Nobel Prizes) choose us for beeing boutique, the atmosphere, the character of our facilities and the staff service. Classic persian carpets and oak furniture. That’s the way advertised in the web. We’ve got 5 different types of rooms, some of them much bigger than the standar; although We believe the luxury does not depend on the size. But of course We cannot be pleasant for the taste of those seeking an spacious and contemporary hotel. Best regards, Emmauel Mansilla - Guest Relations.
