The location is great but thats the only positive thing about this hostel. The beds are super uncomfortable, its very loud and super hot in the rooms, everywhere is mold on the wall, the bathrooms are disgusting, breakfast is one tiny croissant and one little bowl of cereal with one orange and coffee. Thats it. The people who work here...

This was one of the worst hostels we stayed in during our 1 year travel. The room had a ventilator which was pointed to the wall. It was impossible to turn it to another position so it was extremely hot in the room. Also the ventilator sounded like an helicopter. After complaining we got another room for the next day...

This is a very good value hostel, wonderfully located on Avenida 9 de Julio. Breakfast, although small, is included. However, I wouldn't recommend long term stays due to the bathrooms...as you don't flush the toilet paper, but rather put it in the bin under the sink, they are quite dark and smelly. The Wifi is good, the lockers are spacious...

This hostel is in a great location but this is really the only positive. The hostel hasn’t been looked after or had any money put back into it, so many things don’t work, its super run down. We are cooking meals in hostels to save money along the way and this hostel didn’t really have cooking utensils, crockery etc to...

This is the best hostel in Buenos Aires. Perfectly located in the Centre, pretty much on the corner of 9 julio, and avenida de mayo. I spent many days just standing by the balcony watching all the action on 2 of the main avenues of Buenos Aires. There's a pool room, a 24 hour bar, and a great vibe. There's...

After leaving the vile and decrepit franchise of "Milhouse Hostel" (The Walmart of hostels DO NOT STAY AT MILHOUSE) I was frantically walking around micro-center looking for a hostel that wasn't full I luckily knocked on Limehouse. It is simply the best place to stay in Buenos Aires you have a beautiful view of 9 de Julio, the best receptionists,...

My husband and I booked in here for a few nights once we arrived in BA and it very quickly began to feel like home... we ended up staying for 2 weeks :) staff are a fantastic bunch- laid back, really helpful and great company! Think this would also be an ideal place if you are travelling solo as it...

The lime house close to the obelisc is a very good hostel! Furniture is simple but very comfortable. The very best is the staff! Always friendly and helpful! They are great! Thank you! If you want, there are good parties, they have a rooftop to barbecau as well - and that all in the center of buenos aires! Not to...

The location is amazing (if you want to walk by the famous places), and it's near the bus terminal and metro, so you can go whatever you want and comeback ( the buses work nonstop). It isn't a castel for princes and queens, but you can have a lot of fun there. :)

The lady behind the desk didn't give us a very welcoming feeling and after showing us the room the depressing feeling became complete. if we had seen the dorm before we definately wouldn't have checked-in. the 12 dorm is just stuffed with metal bunk beds with torn sheets. there is little light and the building and toilets look dirty. It...

Staying in Montserrat

Neighbourhood Profile
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighbourhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
