Pro: good value for 4 star hotel; near Recoleta; spacious rooms. Con: on busy, loud polluted Av. Libertador; thin towels; typical standard large hotel in city with hundreds of boutique hotels.

No complaints at all -- good location, walking distance to Ricoletta cemetery and other interesting sites, neighborhoods; great room - very clean, very quiet; marble bathroom with separate marble shower & tub; excellent service; very good restaurant for buffet breakfast. We stayed in two different rooms (coming and going from Antarctica cruise) and one had extra ammenities like robes and...

In Buenos Aries for business, I found myself in the Emarador. Check-in was very efficient, and in no time I was in my fourth floor room. The room was excellent, with a spacious bathroom and separate sitting room. TV was dull (for non Spanish speakers) - the usual tedium of English language news/business channels with endlessly repeated news summaries designed...

On recent stay water was pouring out of ceiling and this floor now smells of mildew. Rooms were not worth the money and its rating is not accurate. Internet access at times is not reliable and difficult to navigate. The front desk is staffed with employees who can be rude and less than helpful, especially is your are a female....

We stayed here for a few days in late October 2011. Good size rooms, very clean, & very helpful staff. It's also a great place to explore the unbelievably gorgous city of BA on foot, but also convenient to public transportation. We walked everywhere. Unlike what some others have said, we had nice amenties (robe, slippers, safe, clock, tissues) &...

The initial experience with hotel staff at check-in was very polite and in clear English explained the terms etc… She offered restaurant suggestions based on my questions – both exceeded my expectations. When asked about my business needs for internet- she gave me the details I needed. (Hint if wireless isn’t working- ask for an RJ-45 cable to jack in...

I believe I should begin with something positive. This hotel is ideally located. It is near everything you would want to walk to. The best restaurants, the cemetery, patio bullrich. That was one of the best things about this hotel. I will say that I am in BA at least once a year and the rooms here are enormous compared...

Large room with few amenities. No bathrobe, slippers, stationary. Not even a clock or box of Kleenex. There are better choices for the money.

I stayed here before and after a cruise to antartica. The rooms were comfortable and clean. They have a very nice workout and swim area. Breakfast was average, but if you walk a little towards the recoleta, there are nice options.

Emperador Hotel is really good. Great location, great rooms and spacious modern bathrooms. The indoor pool is also nice. The only negative is that when I arrived the front desk person - Mauro - insisted in denying that the "bed and breakfast" rate included breakfast. Even after I showed him the hotel e-mail confirmation clearly stating that "buffet breakfast included"...

Staying in Retiro

Neighbourhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighbourhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
